As i'm just getting back into 2wd off-road, i'm a little clueless as to what everyone runs.

Is there actually Classes for Motors ??? And if so, what are they ?

And going on from there, what Capacity LiPo is best ?

And carrying on from that... If i was just to do Club Races could i use my Hard Cased LiPo that i currently use in my Touring Car (is BRCA for TC, not on for 2009 for Buggy)? Really Don't want to have to spend More money on another one.

Cheers in Advance.

Russ.

LRP is the best - buy once and forget it - fast as anyone can wish for as well

most people run 7.5 or 8.5t brushless motors in 2wd these days with lipo (lrp/nosram, novak, speed passion etc are all reliable and qulaity brands in offroad) theres not really any motors classes it's mostly all modifed and brushless with very few left still running brushed, there are a few clubs that may run stock classes my local (yorcc) runs a 20t sealed 540 can motor class open for 2wd and 4wd cars, For club racing it's entirely the clubs desicion what lipos they allow to be run and not any other organizeation so you would have to check with the club you plan on going to i guess it should be fine but do make sure but for brca events and regionals etc you will need to have a lipo from the 2009 2c lipo list

Cheers Mike, you always seem to be the one that Answer's...

I'll be using a Brushed setup at first and probably will for some time. What would you recommend Wind wise ?

Oh and LRP aint the Best... I wanted recomendations, not just Plain, Buy This, cause i have it responses... Your reply was actually Worthless as you didn't even bother actually Recommending anything either, just a Make... Parhaps thats why your called RudeTony.

Lipo is lighter and most have more punch than normal nimh packs so for lipo in a 2wd a 13 14 depending on your ability will be ok again you might want something a little slower a 19t would be fine.

As for burshless with lipo as mike said a 7.5 or a 8.5 would be fine.

Make the most popular ones seem to be the LRP/nosram systems but the novaks and tekin systems are also popular and very good.

a good 11*2, 12*2 or 13*2 would be good I reckon depending on your ability ;)

13T sounds good to me as well.

Might be worth having a think about brushless though. When I started back into racing a couple of years ago with a brushed set up I had lots of reliability issues and expense with brushes / springs etc. Brushless requires practically no servicing or ongoing costs.

I know all about Brushed/Brushless. I Race TC's...

Just tested it with a 19T in and it went quite nicely.

Myself, i was thinking 12x2 (i do have a Lovely Spashett V2 Edition) or similar, Mike has basically said that, so i'll try the 19T at a Track and then go from there.

Cheers again.

Well I am sorry you have been offended by a straight to the point answer.
In my opinion and actually the majority or the racers out there LRP are one of the best if not the best. One assumed you would also take advise by your local model shop as well.....You obviously know about RC as you clearly stated you run TC and you also state that LRP are not the best and you state you know about brushless etc etc ....
Anyways, we all have opinions and for sure some of the advise you have been given by others is for sure there or there abouts good info.....it would of helped everyone much more though if you reveiled your level of racing....top drivers would put a 5.5 or even a 4.5 in a 2wd and drivers with a lower ability would run anything up to 13.5 motors etc
Wish you all the luck in your racing and I repeat, sorry you have been offended......for your info, I am far from Rude as many racers that know me would verify

FYI
22 years around the sport
Former
BRCA regional rep - BRCA PRO - Event organiser - F1 driver that has represented UK at Euro and World level etc etc

There are loads of these kind of threads, you might want to try the search function as there are a great varity of answers.
Did you check the 2009 Off road list? It will be on www.brca.org. Im not sure if club meetings have to be BRCA approved products as they are not offical BRCA events, like regionals and nationals, etc.

Yes, i know mate. My understanding exactly, but there's a Forum here and some Very Helpful people.
The answers i have got have sorted me, i am Happy and Fulfilled.
And yes, the Search Facility is a Good thing, but only if you type in exactly the right thing, otherwise it'll miss it everytime.

I always think that the general consensus with these sorts of threads is to get a general feel for the makes and models mentioned, and have a look at a few of the online shops that are also recommended (e.g. microtech racing, m-k-racing, dms racing, jespares etc etc).

Mostly, I would go with, LRP/Nosram (almost identical), Novak, Tekin, Speed Passion, Losi Sensored, as these are popular makes and you will most likely find someone who can help you, or someone who has some knowledge of setting the kit up, servicing, repairs etc.

Hope this helps,

Oh, and a 7.5 Light or 8.5 is a good recommendation for motor in 2wd! Go with sensored for sure!

I thought LRP and Nosram were exactly the same? obviously ones blue and ones red but other than that... ?

Anyways as said ask around and see who runs what, I personally run Nosram and have never had an issue, although similar systems from novak, lrp and the like are just as good...

Its like buying a 2WD IMO... Get a general idea of the top 3 or 4 from peope then go with what you like the look of the most out of those

we also ran LRP at the EBOR24, except we used the 'budget' speedo, the LRP Bullet Reverse, and an X11 motor (8.5) - again, we used the same speedo and motor for the whole 24 hours

we also ran the LRP 5300 LiPo's for 24 hours too, no difference in performance over the whole 24 hours.

I strongly believe that LRP are the best in the business, people will come back and say that I am sponsored by them and thats why I say that, but that is not the reason that I have run LRP before they sponsored me, and thats why I have been running LRP at the sharp end of competition since 2000. I have never been let down by a speedo during this time. the only races I don't finish are when I snap the car

lastly - answer your origional question

Speedo - LRP Sphere Comp (don't need 'TC' eddution for 2WD)
Motor - LRP X12 7.5 (X11 series are still very good and can be picked up at a good price
Batts - LRP 5300 LiPo (from the BRCA list)

depending how confident you feel, you might want to motor-down a bit on my recomendations
