My budget is rather around the 100£+ mark (I missed a WCE for 120£ on ebay)

I don't think it is worth buying a brand new non-WE and converting it but the current going rate for s/h ones seems to be in the £130 mark whereas the brand new ones are £200 gray import on ebay. If you get one for the £130 price then you can run it 'as is' and upgrade gradually. Some of the upgrades are reasonably cheap, the shock towers and the wide bumper for example, so they can be done relatively painlessly straight away.

if you can get one for £100 that would be good but bare in mind the shcks will cost £50 the diff bolt if havent been changed another £10 it all depends on how seriouse you are about racing and if it a standard kit it could be a couple of years old and worn.

if you can find a cheap non-worlds kit then go for it. The only bit that is essential from the worlds kit is the slipper. The original shocks are perfectly fine. Most original kits will have the upgraded diff bolts included in them along with spare thrust race kits. All of the front shock towers and wishbones have been phased over to the new moulds, so just by a spare set of each of those and fit them, then keep the old style ones as spares.
job done. it'll work out far cheaper than a worlds kit.

I bought my non wce D4 from Frontline Hobbies (newcastle Aust) for $299 Aus which is half the RRP of the WCE , so I think it was worth it.
I don't think that any Aussies will get a better buy than that as they are the importers of HPI/HB
