Astroturf tips

Hi, I'm writing from Brisbane, Australia where we are considering laying astroturf over our existing dirt track, primarily to reduce maintenance and improve consistency. Seeing how you English folk seem quite experienced with this type of surface I was hoping you might be able to give us a few tips on the best type of turf, how best to lay it and maintain it, how it handles compared to dirt etc. Most guys here are adverse to the idea of an artificial surface but there would seem to be some definite advantages to it.
