Can anyone help me?
I ordered some parts from Ben Racing on the 4th December last year and have been chasing them up ever since. Initially I received a response saying that they were trying to order the parts and finally on the 20th Feb that I was going to get a full refund as they couldn't order the parts anywhere.
I'm still waiting on that and I'm now getting no reponses to emails or telephone messages (always goes to answerphone)
Does anyone know how I can get in touch with them?
In the meantime I guess this can act as a warning that Ben Racing list items on their site without holding stock and is happy to charge you without ever delivering the goods:thumbdown::mad:

Hmmm, not good but it can happen occasionally I guess. I rang them the other day before I wasted a lunch hour walking to the shop (its only half a mile from my office). They were listing a part as "In Stock" that no one else in the country had - not even the more usual suspects - and as I know Ben don't shift a lot of that particular manufacturers stuff I gave them a ring. The phone did get answered after a few tries and sure enough "No mate, but we can get it for you" was the response. They are only a small shop but I've never had a problem with them before so I'd keep trying. If you want I can pop in as I drive past the shop every day, what was your order for / refund amount. If you want to PM me your details it won't hurt for me to enquire.

Thanks Spoolio, it was for a Optima Mid Belt Cover Set, again not something that anyone else had in stock, whilst it may only be for £11.06, it's my money and I want it back!!
It's nice to know that it's a real shop though, I will keep trying and hopefully will get a person instead of an answerphone.
LOL at Lee :D

I think they just have a copy of Kyosho's old stock list which is not exactly upto date, im pretty sure they order in on demand hence delays.
Cheers
P.s. if you want the OT-102 (Optima Mid Belt cover set) i have them in stock although im not a "Real" shop only an online shop but i do hold stock ;-)
Price is £16.50 posted in UK.

Why? Is he closing? I had a nosey on the way home. The (typed, not handwritten) sign on the door says "Closed Due To Staff Illness Until 16th April 2009" but the shop looks as normal as it always has. Maybe the chap who runs it is ill, I don't know how many people work there now.
Maybe the crew who race at Mansfield will have a better idea of what's going on, if they are reading this thread .

Thanks for the info, paypal don't want to know as it's over 60 days. That'll teach me for giving someone a chance. From now on, if it's not in stock then I won't be shopping there.

that shop seems to pop up all over the place n never with a good story......... it always seems to be along the lines of this case where somethings ordered online as being in stock be it a full car or a reasonably rare part like this case. they always do give a refund in the end but theres always a lengthy dispute and numerous phone calls before anything is resolved. stick at it!
"i wonder if the shops in loine with a phone company with all these calls you need to make:confused:"

It is "illegal" for a shop to take the money before the goods are shipped, which is why we never do it, we only charge when the items leave the shop, yet time and time again we are amazed to hear just how many shops in this trade DO charge customers for stuff as soon as the order is placed even if they don have the stock on their shelves.
Dont get me wrong, I am not digging just at BR (in fact I am sorry to hear they may be closing, since it is never nice to hear of fellow model shops struggling) NOR am I saying we are perfect, I am sure we are far from it. But selling stuff you dont even have is not on, they are using YOUR money to go and get it in the first place, it is not their money they are playing with to start with......

ARE YOU SURE DARREN? i can't see any shop in there right mind in todays society letting go of stock before they have received payment...i know my old company would only deliver good once payment had been recieved..

What Darren's say Chris is you should not charge a customer for parts then order the parts if not in stock.
You should only charge someone for parts when you have the parts in stock to supply! then you post them out and everyones happy :)

You cant charge BEFORE shipping (ie in advance, eg order monday, pay monday shop then ships on the thursday, you have to order monday, pay monday, ship monday if you get my example ;) ) You have to charge "as" you are shipping, but not prior. I agree with you 100% it would be suicide to send it THEN charge afterwards.

Hi,
Peetbee - i have just sent you a message asking for your paypal addyy - as soon as i have this i will send you the funds. Sorry you have not been able to get hold of me for the last week or so - I am currently in hospital and likely to be here until the 10th-14th Apr. So the shop will be closed until then.
We do not charge for parts before they are dispatched - not by card or by cash. Paypal, however is a push rather than a pull system that i have no control over when the money goes into our paypal account - however i am always more than happy to refund a customer.
No where on the site does it say we have a particular part in stock at time of ordering
And finally, yes the rumour is is true. I have had the offer to invest in other business opportunities and will therefore be getting out of the RC game. At the current moment i will be looking to either get all parts ordered deliverered to customers, or unfufillable orders cancelled/refunded by the end of April.
Best regards,
Ben

Thanks Ben, I have received the refund now and hope that your stay in hospital is as comfortable as it can be.
Please could this topic be closed now?
