A few of us are looking at putting some money together and buying a comm lathe.

Any opinions on the best one to get ?

i have an eagle and it's fine. got it from ebay for £60 with diamond tip.

the zipp and 3 racing lathes are under £100. to be honest i wouldn't worry too much about a diamond tip as i get a better finnish with the carbide. i've done loads of skins with it and it was second hand, so they last pretty well.

I have a Hudy lathe with the V guides instead of the bearings. Been really pleased with it and super top quality.

Just make sure you get a Diamond cutting bit as the finish on the comm is so much better.

I have a 3Racing lathe with a carbide bit, less than £100, and I have had no complaints whatsoever.

I'm with the Huddy.. I got the one with the bearings but v-groove one is just as good.

As said before whatever lathe you get make sure you get a diamond tip;)
