TRACKSIDE SPARES WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE AS THE OFFICIAL WELSH SHOP AT TALLY NATIONAL

He will have SEVERAL HUNDRED pairs of SCHUMACHER TYRES and INSERTS and will have a very large selection of ASSOCIATED SPARES as well as all the other things you would expect to be able to buy.

If you want anything specific give Paul a call on 07812115259 or email shop@tracksidespares.co.uk the online shop has only gone live this week so has just a small selection of stock on it at present.

What direction we gonna be running for Saturday?

Dan - the track has to be running from right to left on the straight as it would be an illegal layout otherwise - if the rule is still there like it used to be, a track cannot narrow at any point - if you look at the beginning of the straight, it is thinner and I think that is where the loop is as well.

Weather not looking the best for the weekend unfortunately though

I always feel this is a shame for the organisers especially when they have put in a lot of effort for a meeting

Well, it look s like the X6 has carried on from where it left off at last years Nats. Early days at the moment but I have just heard back from the X-Team at Taly.

In round 1 it was an X6 Squared 1-2-3 for the team - Phil Sleigh, Ellis Stafford, Mat Dodd (and I believe it was privateer Nathan Waters with another X6 Sq in fourth)

Round 2 and it was Ellis Satfford (X6 Sq), Lee Martin (B4) and Phil Sleigh (X6 Sq) who took up the top three places

Go lads!!!

I ran all day there, and only had one moment on the straight, and I was going all out down the straight, and up the banking, many a drive round the outside, up there.

So if a mere F5 with a Tamiya DB-01 can do it... so can everyone else, just don't drive up the MIDDLE of the straight.

Thanks to all at tally!! Really enjoyed the weekend. Weather was great and enjoyed the track all bar the straight which i found a bit random if you had to change lines or try a pass (ok, didn't do alot of the latter:lol:)
Nice one, vast improvement over last year even if my result wasn't.

Wow what a weekend. 2wd was good happy with where i i finished and loved my final, had a few laps changing between first and second with wraggy. Then he got away and i was left to scrap with alan hart which was good to :)

Saturday night was mad decided to fit a stick pack lipo in my xx4 for a bit of exprimentation. So mid way though this mum overloads then genny so i go out turn it off and go to start it and i snapped the pull cord. So stripped it down and put a new cord in but we seem to of done it wrong. So plugged into Craigs genny and finally finished the job.

Sunday was awsome car was good with the lipo was struggerling with consistancy all day then in round 4 i did a storming round with only one mistake. Which gave me a good round score and put me in the J behind Mike Elliot and Andy Reeves. And basically it just went wrong but did end up 4th after all the mess.

Track/Venue:

Track was awsome today some area's might of needed a bit of flattening but jumps seemed to work much better today. As for saturday loved the layout but the jumps where not that easy.

Only Problem i had with the venue was the lack of toilets overnight and the fact that if you wanted water you had to ask or brave the dogs.

But i know how hard it is to run an event like this and well dont to everyone at tallywain great event.

Also well done to sleigh and well done to Tom for today you really do deserve it fella. Well done.

erm... I was getting them sort of laps... it was my old fart brain, round the astro that caught me out. It is off-road in the end... I have to endure a winter of racing saloons on flat tracks, don't need flat tracks when I go outdoors. I understand that some were struggling, but then there were also a lot, not struggling with the straight too.... can't condem a track because people can't 'negotiate' a straight that got bumps in it.

Anyhows, could moan/discuss/chuck stuff out of the cot over it, it is done, dusted, was a fab day, knackered now though, thankfully, only tool 45 mins to get home.

Ash, I did ask about the toilets, from what I understand, when they provided a 'porta-potty' last year, it was hardly used. Maybe this could be brought up, and be an 'essential' part of a National weekend, 24hr access to a toilet.

Hands up who got sunburn?? :woot:

Well done to everyone, the track was very good everywhere except the straight and the first double on Sunday, they proved to be very random and inconsistent, which were where 95% of my crashes were. Apart from that it was a good effort and i can only see it getting better next year!

Well done to Phil and Tom for your wins.

I can't wait to hear Mike Hudson's thoughts on the track.

Good to see so many 4wd chassis in the 'A' final.

Well done tom and phil, long time coming!!

Well i dont want to say much....i just hope i dont have to go back....

How anyone can say the straight was not a problem is beyond me, its off road - agreed, not destruction Derby...and about lines up the straight i tried almost everyone, even in the end i made sure i rubbed in pipe on the inside to give me the best opportunity.

I dont mean for this to sound bad on anyone who helped at the track, thought you all did a good job (millzy especially). I just get annoyed to find myself spending money to go racing at somewhere i dont see fit. The track should be proven and checked before nationals go ahead.

I heard that not many tracks put in anymore, so - we either need to make it more worthwhile having nationals at the tracks...or reduce the number of national rounds to cater for having only the best tracks and then support regionals more?

Must say, not really a happy bunny on this matter and see the reason more people are drifting to 8th....

One thing that strikes me from reading the comments is that a national event has been ran on an untested track. I understand the club were up against it with hosting the first national and not having a chance to run a regional etc. I suppose Blyth are lucky in this respect with hosting a round later in the year. I don't know if it was possible but maybe the first round would have been better going to one of the other all weather tracks, ie, eden park, stotfold. At least some running could be done on the taly track but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

As everyone is posting comments then I will also give my opinion on the track and the event.....I haven't raced as many of you know for some 8 years at Nationals. To see Ellis Stafford (our National 2wd champion) have a some 6 second lead in the main A final leg 1 and simply go on the straight and tumble over and over till the car broke that put him out of the race, in my opinion that is simply NOT right. If the current best in the UK can't go down the straight then I ask how can anyone else have a chance!I was on for a top 10 time in round 1 and as commentated at the time, some few seconds off TQ and my 4wd turned over on the straight for no reason whatsoever and I was actually comming off the power to not make an error.....again in my opinion this is simply NOT right.Like I said on the mike when I was commentating I think the club did a great job at the weekend....lots and lots of good points but as a constructive point, I say sort out the straight and some of the profiles of the jumps - apart from that it was all fine and a good bunch of people that have obviously worked hard to get the meeting on and I feel they will listen to the comments and make the place even better. Thanks to Talywain members and organises for you efforts - this post is meant to be constructive and nothing more......Tony Evdoka

I was racing at Coventry the other week end and it was a lot worse than this track.

Sure, it would be nice to see the straight a bit flatter and the bumps a bit less random (the double on the righ hand is the worst IMHO). Would be equally nice to see the 'big' double changed so that it can be taken with less of a risk, even if some drivers managed to get it right 90% of the time in 2WD (Danny is a good example).

Overall I had a really good week end, 2WD F final for my first ever national was well above what I expected. 4WD wasn't as well as I think i'd just used up all of my luck and talent for the week end on saturday, lol.

Just to make a point, I didn't have a single tumble down the straight. I had a few small issues in 4WD but as far as my 2WD was concerned the straight was flat

Well done to everyone at Talywain and I hope we come back next year with an improved track.

Just a quick one as I agree with the comments made with regards to the jump's profile's and straight- however thought it made for fantastic finals as if 2 cars were close then the 2nd would try a move and either benefit or ruin the run. Also thought there was people in the top finals that would not have been there on a run track such as stotfold, southport, eden park etc. So they can now push on and see what happens.

Thanks to tally, good weather / social side great - pleasant

Interesting comments on the straight, I'm one who does think there can be a too bumpy track for 10th unlike Lee and others, but didn't have a problem with the straight (well, lifted at the same point every lap and it went over fine), whereas even some top guys did, so there must be an issue and I was just lucky (and despite me being slow, my car goes as quick on the straights as anyones)!! Totally agree with Griff that it definitely was an issue if people had to use another line on it. Also totally agree with Fabs that Cov is much rougher!

Seriously, agree with most on here, just the straight (It would be nice to be able to stay flat on the main straight!) and first double (when run 4wd direction) could do with some profiling/flattening, other than that I liked it!!

Chrislong

I agree with what Pidge says, but I do hope we go back.

Fair enough, you guys want to defend the work you have done, and you deserve a load of credit for it as it was a good track apart from one part of it. But in my opinion the greatness was somewhat dilluted by the straight being random. If Ellis and others in the top 10 can't do it consistently, then what chance do the rest of us have? I can accept bumpy, but the straight should be do able, and any obstacles be consistent accross the width and be visible - the bumps were not visible or consistent. And FFS it was so bumpy cars were airborn over the loop to the point they were not counting.

Another point, is Batley got a slating and a letter from the BRCA - for a rough straight and lack of toilets. So what has changed now? Personally the straight at Batley and general track condition (at the last national held there) was better than Talywain last weekend in my opinion. Im just stating this in response to the denial that the straight being overly bumpy is an issue. A lot of it is down to opinion, but benchmarking it against Batley straight which was complained about - then yes Talywains should have been a bit smoother and predictable (by no means flat ofcause, but there is a middleground)

The other thing is it could be made 80% better by the straight being do-able consistently, the other 20% I personally could live with and I did enjoy the track until I got to the straight. So I do hope we're back there, that we have toilets (i was bursting so much in the morning I snook into the ladies before I exploded - would have been messy), and that the pub stocks more Magners.

I did make a comment to H, didn't go down well, would have been nicer if was able to chat to him as I wasn't looking for an arguement or to offend him. I was trying to say I liked the track except for the straight. But hey ho, clearly a lot of work has gone on, and granted none of you want to hear negativity. But the fact is something wasn't right, so please don't take offence for the critisism.

I think, you may find that H had had a few come up and were quite 'abusive' about it all, so you may have gone and asked at the wrong time, dude. I was there when there was one particular tirade towards H and the track, during practice. It wasn't pleasant at all.

I had no input into putting the astro down, and only helped to nail the hose in place on bank holiday Monday.

You had no change of speaking to H on Sunday- as some rather nice person had a very verbal and abusing go at myself and H for the track as his son has rolled and broke his car- I went home after that

H stuck around as he was race director but if he had gone home I wouldn’t have blamed him, there is a way of addressing and issue with the track - shouting and swearing and making out we are incompetent by the rostrum is not the way to do it.

Fully understand what every one is saying about the straight and the issues will be resolved.

Hope at least some of the drivers enjoyed the weekend. Yes I agree that the straight was too bumpy for 1/10th and it will be altered.

As for the lack of toilets, a simple lack of communication between myself and H, it was meant to be announced that if toilets were neede overnight, just to knock on my door and I would have opened them up.

just 1 complaint the club has tho, what classes as rubbish - broken chairs and even a broken petrol generator!!!!!!!!!

I can't ever really bring myself to complain about a meeting, cos i can't imagine the amount of work that goes into hosting a national event, for such minimal reward. For someone to actually verbally abuse the people that made the event happen, well it's just totally out of order.

Yes, the straight was bumpy, and i probably had a grumble to myself about it at some point on the Saturday (didn't race on the Sunday, so can't speak for the way it drove then), but overall, the only thing i can say is just a big thanks for all the effort that went into hosting the event in the first place. Nice one to you all

I have no complains about the track after the my best start ever to a National Series, finishing 26th on both days - thanks for the points :D:thumbsup:

I agree with most comments on here regarding the straight, it was really bumpy but surely that should have meant that people could have / should have slowed down a little?? I did and it paid dividends!! In the 4wd final I even managed to go full chat down the straight, maybe that was too much commitment.

My only real complaint / moan was the first double in 4wd which was the last double in 2wd. If it wasn't for the randomness of it I could have even made the 'B' final but saying that other people may not have made mistakes.

Thanks to Tally (esp Mills and H - you are the only 2 I know from there) for a great weekend, I'd like to go back in 2010 and I'm glad there are more tracks in 2009 that can't be classed as 'home' tracks should be a great season.

I think I’d be telling fibs if I said didn't curse the straight a couple of times yesterday but I actually though the layout was pretty good. I really hope that all the guys involved don't get disheartened, with some levelling and reprofiling of the jumps its done and I think it will be a great national track that people will be happy to return to each year.

I know what its like to be on the receiving end of criticism, luckily by the time Stotfold had a national we'd had time to sort thing out, but it does make you feel like all your hard work is unappreciated and often the people that complain don't make any contribution. The club (milzy, H and all the others I don't know) obviously did everything they could and must have worked extremely hard to get it there.... with a little bit more work it will be a great track to return to next year.

Well done to Yardy and Sleigh for the wins and Nathan and Spenner for their first national A's.

Another well done to the club, lots of effort gone into the track and while it was very rough the layout was really good.

My only complaint (other than the straight of course) was also the first double in 4wd which I couldn't seem to do for fudge, it seemed to change every lap.

I think the problem with the straight is/was caused by the 8th's running down the banking and slamming into the flat making it washboard. If we'd have had a slow corner at the end of the straight leading onto the banking the bumpy straight wouldn't have been such an issue.

More of the same next year Millzy, except can we go on/off the banking at lower speeds, the impact the cars go through on the transition between the banking and flat was nuts.

I really enjoyed my first National, yes there are a few things in need of ironing out but overall the track was very enjoyable to race on, some good close racing & a very successful meeting. Hope we can go back next year. Well done and thanks to all involved from Tally & the BRCA.

Great videos! its nice to see the racing as I couldn't do the nationals this year due to being skint. - first time i've missed a national in 5 years!!!

can't wait for the race report, sure it will be fantastic as usual.

Cool videos, nice one!!!

The straight does look hard work, E's car usually sails over the bumps:o

I shall keep that in minde for next year- some sort of S or 180 befor it i think

I think with that Doub, ive made the same errorr as i did last year as there wasnt enought room after the down ramp into the corrner , the profile of the up ramp didnt help much as well.

Still I had fun plannig the track and coming up with the layout
It was REALLY nice to see you all in wales again and I want to thank every one who helped out from the club as well as the B.R.C.A

Roll on next year - Glad you all want to come back
