How do chaps, I went racing at Faversham last night, had a go on Spud31, Rich Bakers Cat sx and went and bought a Phil Booth Edt this morning! A bit of am Easter present to myself!

So a few questions? Sorry if they have been covered before.

What spares are worth stocking up on?

Are the Gen 2 carbon link plates needed?

Any option parts I should put on the car?

Im going to put in a new Nosram matrix evo, LRP 5.5 motor, 23 pinion a good starting point?

I was thinking of getting the new batt strap? I take it you double side tape the pack to the strap rather than glueing the cell locators on the bottom of the lipo?

Good choice mate. Do you mean the multi links that ryan lee's does? If so im running the gen2 ones atm. They are really handy for quick changes, also stronger.
As for spares, id get some front medium flex wishbones and the front hinge pins aswell. Also handy to get a couple of spur gears.
For the lipo, a really handy part to get is the lipo retainer as sold by nortech.
Id reccomend the alloy gearbox tops aswell!
Not sure on gearing mate.

HTH, thanks Ben

Cheers for all the help! Nearly got it wired up now! But is beer time now so will get it done tomorrow.

Just a thought is it worth doing the mod on the slipper with the long grub screw? Just read racer mag with the CAT review in it and it mentions it.

You coming back up to Faversham next week with the Cat?

I would only do the mod on the spur gear if you intend to change them all the time, even then I'm not sort of the benefit..

Yes Minster, all being well with work meetings etc I'll give it a run at Faversham next week.

Gary, I love the carbon! But may try the new top deck, Rich's car has O rings under top deck bolts for some more flex, not sure if many other CAT racers do this for indoor racing?

Just a thought is it worth doing the mod on the slipper with the long grub screw? Just read racer mag with the CAT review in it and it mentions it.

The rationale for doing this is that threadlocking a lock grub screw into the shaft and using a nyloc facilitates quick spur gear removal / replacement without affecting the slipper clutch and without having to otherwise crack a threadlocked screw each time. The standard method requires the bolt to be threadlocked into the shaft and if you use a strong threadlock, it's then going to be difficult to crack it when you need to unscrew the bolt.

The M3 nyloc just makes things easier.

Sounds a good mod to me! How long is the grub screw?

About 10mm (M3 x 10)
If you're coming down to EPR next weekend, come and find me and I'm sure I've got another one that you can have.

It's not a big mod but it doesn't hurt to do it.

Hi Mark,

I have also just treated myself to a Phil Booth ed CAT

A couple of questions if I may:-

1. Where you shocks dirty? I mean mine are black :woot:, the threads were filthy on all four corners of my car.

2. Did you have to make any adjustments? my steering is out and the rear diff is loose.

Must say I was expecting a bit moor from a signature car.

Apart from that great car, just need to sort a shell.

Colin

Hey mate ,

The shocks were a bit dirty but I cleaned them up with a bit of motor cleaner. Yes not sure why they were dirty?!

My diffs and steering seemed ok to me, I had to set the camber up as it was a bit out but overall the build seemed good plenty of thread lock etc

So far I'm happy with the car, goes well indoors looking forward to the outdoor regionals.

Good luck with yours.

Thanks of the reply Mark.

Is the Phil Booth setup documented somewhere to your knowledge.

I did not get any setup sheets in the box...

Great car, cant wait to run her:thumbsup:

I'm not sure about the Phil booth set up,I'm sure one of the team drivers may know or it maybe worth e mailing Schumacher as they must be building them to a certain spec
