Rear Shocks

Hi all i have recently bought a new lazer zx-5 to get into off roading as been touring car it for the past year ( as well as bashing a savage around) anyway after what i can only describe as a not a very nice build ( been spoilt by xray manuals i think) and ran the car for the first time last weekend and was impressed with it the one main niggle for me is the close proximity of the rear shock springs to the drive shafts and seeing that i run on grass it aids the grass to collect and wrap round the shafts and binds up and just wondered if there is a known good fix
as have seen elsewhere mentioned about placing the shocks to the front of the tower but this results in the lower mount catching on the wheel rims so that not a good fix
my friend who also runs a lazer has added an extra spacer to the top mount and placed the shock on the outside of the wishbone mounting area but i just wanted to see what other suggestions you guys had. The idea i came up with was to move the spacer ( part n. 132) ( page 12 section 9) from the front of the rear hub to the rear of it so pushing th ehub away from the shock and just wondered as although it does set the shaft at a slight angle would this affect the running and the final toe settings ?

Well, moving the spacer will shorten the wheelbase which changes the handling a bit, makes the car a shade snappier. I have run my Lazer like that the last few runs indoors.

What I have seen done is to make a couple of guards out of scrap material bolted to the front of the wishbone.

Or you can try the new LAB02 Bullet body which is flared out at the rear.

Personally speaking grass collection has not been an issue for me, you must be running on some pretty unprepared or recently mown tracks?
