Hi, I'm getting back into 4wd buggy racing after 14 or so years off.

I am trying to decide on a brushless system. So far I'm considering the Nosram NR90100 - Matrix Brushless Reverse as I like the idea of a reverse for when it all goes wrong! Otherwise it's a Matrix Evolution or Novak Gtb, although I can't see what extra either of those would give me over the cheaper reverse esc?

Motor wise I think a 6.5T will be plenty fast enough for me. Is it best to stick with the same brand motor as the speedcontroller or woud a Orion Vortex 6.5T work fine with any of the above esc's? I'm really only considering the Orion motor as it's cheaper than Nosrams or Novaks offerings!

Any advice welcome

All the different brands have strengths and weaknesses. I prefer LRP / Nosram speedos over the others I've tried for smoothness, but that's my own personal opinion.

Remember that you can't use reverse when racing!

I prefer Speed Passion to LRP/Nosram in terms of smoothness

Also, the modified speed passion motors are untouchable in comparison to LRP/Nosram in my opinion.

Seen too many Novak speedos/motors overheat
