I'm wishing I'd put my ability a bit higher if I'm honest

not wishing to change anything but all other regionals and nationals i have attended are normally based on Formula ratings and not ability as that is totally down to how each individual see themselves .
surely Formula rating is the better way of seeding heats ??

You have to bare in mind people who don't just race off road, so do not have a high formula.
From talking to people who did regionals last year just attending all would give about an f3 grading....

Formula heat listings work to a certain extent. But if it was done by that and I was in the bottom heat I would have been pretty fustrated

84 tooth wont fit an x6 so i was told 78 and 81 is the max deepdale , wraggy i agree i never know what to put as ability 10++++++ for my painting heheheehhe -10 for my racing lmao but i think i been more sensible this year

well i just think its wrong to go by people ability level thats all , no offence to the the other guy and understand what he is saying as some only run TC or something else but i wouldnt expect to be put in a high heat if i went from off road to TC as its totally different .
i jus think F grades are set for a reason and therefore should be used ..

totally agree mate we do have a few snorer that have never driven off road this year , and just cause they drive at tc nationals does nt compare to off road ,but that just how i feel about it and their in higher heat than me too f grades are the way ,,,

thought in your first year you did nt enter as an f5 , thought drivers in the first year were nt classed , or is that just me

Its hard to get the heat gradings right for the first round of the series, its certainly a job I wouldn't like to do because your never going to please everybody.

Am sure it will be on where you finish in this round for the next one, however it should be on where you finished in last years series for this round and i'm last off

Also i'm down as a 10, would just like to say I didn't grade my self as that, i'm not a 10

Looking forward to it anyway

I believe Richard is right in that where your finished last year will have had a bearing on your heat listing. Obviously, I agree with what has been said earlier about the use of F Gradings, however with a Mid East Region re-emerging as it is there may be a couple of "returning guns" in the mix which are shown as F5 but perform way higher. Whatever, as Richard says the heat listing for the next round will be exact as it will reflect where you finished in tomorrows event.
Best of luck

Paul.
Mate, I agree but not everyone understands this theory. Some F5's grade themselves 10 because no other F5 has beaten them.
AND, I dont believe it has ever been written down or universally accepted that
F1 = 1-2, F2 = 3-4, F3 = 5-6, F4 = 7-8 and F5 = 9-10. It is human nature to wish to be a better performer than you actually are.
You will be fine in the heat you are in - domination the way forward.

I agree Wraggy, personaly I see top end F1's as 10 and bottom end F1's - top end F2's as 9's, but for tomorrow i'm a 10 woo hoo :p

Yeah and was it not an F5 that won the F2's and f3f4f5's last year :) I would have assumed that it would have first been based by Jim on last years results then abilitys inputted by people themselves. Abilities are always on a trust basis unless you have something to base it on. Round 2 will obviously be based on round 1

Sorry for the confusion over grading and abilities.

The abilities system I’ve used is for the region only, not national, and yes I suppose I should have stared at 9 or even 8 but this was just a way for me and the holding clubs to get a feel for the drivers ability, that may seem a little tough for those coming back into 1/10th off road but I’m sure you will soon find yourself in the heats you deserve to be in after this round.

Can you imagine last year when I really had no idea of anyone’s ability at the time.

So I used last year’s race data, not just the end of year grading, to give me a feel for abilities as some drives did not complete the 3 events required for grading.

Also sorry to those who feel they deserved to start in a different grid position, maybe we can sort that tomorrow, the heat listing was just showing who was in each heat, not the running order.

See you all tomorrow

Jim
