Kamtec DB-01 shell

Right chaps - it's here and going into production.

Keith Dowsett at Kamtec has done a sterling job of recreating the Durga shell in lexan - I have the prototype shell sitting here snugly fastened to my chassis. To be honest I think it's a better fit than the kit version, and slightly more robust too :thumbsup:

I'm going to get this one sprayed up soon and post some pictures so you can see for yourself, but in the meantime drop Keith a line at Kamtec via the website http://www.kamtec.co.uk/ and he'll be more than happy to sort you out a nice shiny new shell for a fraction of the cost of an original :drool:

well, if it had been the Baldre shell, I would of been up for it, but the Durga, no ta, it just leaves far to big a gap around the chassis.

I don't see it as too much of an issue on the Durga because it has a sealed drive train. I know water can still get in but if it was really wet I wouldn't run. Are you bringing it wednesday Dave?

The drivetrain is fairly well sealed but the electronics aren't, it doesn't have to be tipping it down to run the risk of water induced failure. Having lost at least one esc to water damage over the winter, I'd rather spend a few quid extra on a fugly shell that seals better around the chassis than an ugly one that doesn't.

The body follows the lines of the original - in that it's symmetrical side to side so there is a gap - but do what I did. I disposed of the body posts and now use velcro to secure my shell. Along with some well placed foam that is readily available it stops the ingress of any foreign object and weighs virtually nothing.

done that with the original durga shell, and the water still gets in... the Baldre shell just fits tight and stops the moisture getting in. Like Dom, I would rather run a less radical shell, and have a dry innards, than a sleeker shell, and get wet, inside.

I've got a baldre shell on the way from that popular hong-kong based rc parts emporium :thumbsup:
