We are totally new to 2wd having only raced 1:8 offroad up until now ... got my lad a XXX-CR with a 6.5 Excelerin system that i picked up 'as new' on here (with the V.2 Firmware upgraded)..
Went out for the 1st time today and altough we were generally happy with everything we did encounter an annoying problem with the Excelerin ... the car would run fine for 5 - 10 mins then the throttle would just cut out then just come in and out briefly before stopping ... I thought maybe the speedo or motor had overheated (possible 'nitrofinger') but neither seemed unduly hot although when left for 20 mins or so it ran ok again (coincidence?)
I have searched on here and seen mention of software issues and faulty sensor leads but has anyone encountered an issue like this and if so what were the remedies? ... hoping to do the regional at Kiddy next week so need to get it sorted:(

I'd say Lipo cut off too.

Surely you only need to run for 5 minutes :p

Could possibly be that the initial acceleration was on high (by default). I had this problem, with it on high, car just stops for a second or two..
Set to medium and no problems at all!

My lad's had a similar problem with his Xcelorin. His car will all of a sudden stop, he then has to move the transmitter to 'brake' and then 'accelerate' again to get the car moving again. It's really annoying as it will happen every 20-30 secs.
He runs Nimh cells, and I have ensured the Lipo cut off is not switched on. Apart from that, the settings are as standard (running the latest firmware).

Finally got around to plugging in to the PC! ..... the guy I had the system off used it in a bike and it was set for a 3s 11.1 LiPo with a 9v cutoff .... think this may have been the problem?:p

Here is my setup if it's of any use.
My setup:
Forward no reverse
Throttle Limit: 0%
Reverse limit: 100%
Motor Timing: Normal
Initial Acc: Medium
Braking %: 30%
Drag brake: 12%
Deadband: 3

As its his 1st meeting I've gone 20% on the throttle limit and 8% drag brake other than that the set up is identical,
Thanks

Couldn't get brakes either at the start. Have a Futaba 3VC radio. Changed Throttle Neutral to 5:5 from the 7:3 I had originally set and I now have "some" brakes.

did you ever solve the brakes problem?? I have the same issue myself... brakes are there - but takes about 2ft for me to stop and thats when the car is going at walking/jogging pace !!

I reckon re-calibrate speedo to handset.
I have a different problem with my brakes, does anyone else's do this? when I pull up to the line, I put the brakes on. The car comes almost to a full stop, then the brakes de-activate themselves and so the car rolls backwards.
Sound familiar anyone?
