The Summer GP is now being organised....

you can book-in online (clicky) (http://www.srcc.co.uk/bookingin.html) or you can simply turn up on the day - the number of drivers is limited to 80, so book in early to avoid disappointment!

It could well be good practice for the National . . .

All information for the event will be posted here (http://www.srcc.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=579) on the clubs website

hi

there is not practice on the Saturday, as we are installing a new astroturf section, so we will be working, not playing.

As for camping over, we have not arranged anything for that this year because we have in previous years and nobody has taken us up on the the offer. However, I will ask the council to see what the situation re:- camping is, and post back here when I have the definitive answer.

More like a shady character in the work party. :woot:

Some existing astro sections are being tidied up and the astro renewed.

There is some sections getting newly astro-turfed and also some islands and corners changed.

It is a lot of work, that is getting done in a very short space of time due to having a very full track calendar this year.

Hopefully the new/refreshed astro areas are going to be raceable for the GP on sunday, to allow some pre-national track time.

For those that have not been to the club this season there is already some new features that were made pre-season including; a new exit in what was a long island at the end of the straight; doubles replaced by table top with additional side exit for 2009.

that would be telling....but to narrow it down, the only grass left on the track is in the middle of one of the islands. :o

Make that 75 and there still comming in thick and fast.:o
at this rate we may have to cap to number of entries.
I would advise if you are thinking of doing this event, then get booked in,
at this rate you may not get in if you just turn up on the day.

Need mind astro-turfing the shady area under the trees, how about some lighting down there? You can't see my car at all on the far side of the track! People were calling it the Stealth D4 because it disappears in the shadows!

Or maybe having a dark green car was a bad idea......

Hi guys,

last meeting I came too at Southport was the Easter Egg Meeting and we had to enter the venue by coming down the public path, is this still the way or will the gate be open for the field?

burgie
03-06-2009, 09:32 PM
the entry to the field is weather dependent.

as long as it is dry, the only entrance that should be used is the one that brings you directly onto the field, by the greenhouse/plant sale place.

I will put a sign up by the relevant entrance on the day.

Resurfacing tarmac, laying new asto in the infield and backsection, and replacement of broken barriers was all done in 1 day!

The astro still needs a bit of time to ease and settle (it was still on the roll until yesterday lunchtime!) but it was really good to get some good racing on it before the national. Still two more club meetings before the national so we can test and fettle it.

A big thanks to everybody who came along today  - i understand there was only 2 no shows, and one of those places was taken by somebody who just turned up on the day.
