Hi,

I have a new brushed motor and want to know the best way to run it in. I had thought I'd just trim the throttle and let it run for 15 mins or so, but the instructions state "3v for 10-15 mins".

Might be a daft question to some, but how do I acheive 3v?

Cheers,
Barry

You can acheive 3V with a couple of old cells. I use an old 4.8V pack (4 cells) to run in motors, and I only run in for a minute or so until the big sparks stop coming off the brushes.

All you are doing is bedding the surface of the brushes in without applying too much load and burning the brush and comm up.

It was never recommended to use part throttle on the ESC as the ESC "switches" on and off at high speed, so you are still getting high voltages on the comm. But I don't think it really matters that much!

Cheers for the advice. I'll use some old cells and avoid the underwater method I've seen on youtube!

all I used to do was run them in the car on the track in a practice for 2 or 3 mins @ a gentle pace.
