is there any way to tell if i have damaged my motor putting a new sintered rotor in as i put it hit the the inside of the magnets.

1) Slide a piece of thin lexan or paper between the rotor & the coils
2) Take it out... It will hit the coils again, but this time with 0 friction
3) inspect the rotor for any scratches on the shiny nickel plating
If the nickel plating is scratched/gone, that's indication there has been damage, you'll know when you rotor reaches 40000 rpm... it might fall appart due to centrifugial force.
If no sign of scratches, you're perfectly fine.

About the coil stack, it does not get damage doing why you did. It is not fragile like the rotor
