It's back to haunt me......

I recently got myself some lipos after putting it off for as long as possible. So I decided to setup the software on the computer for my xcelorin. Had some issues running with Vista, but got it sorted by turning off all anti-virus etc.

My first problem, the lipo cutoff just wasn't registering. I would change it on the screen, send details, it says ok. Then I unplugged it, plugged it back in and read the settings, it comes up with lipo 6v cutoff, but it doesn't cut off. So I tried some of the other settings, like brakes, forward/reverse, none of which registered either.

Did a bit of research and decided to install the latest firmware. Now I know his can be fatal if done wrong, so I triple checked I had the correct upgrade for my speedo. Followed the instructions to the letter, but then disaster struck and dreaded orange light came on the esc. And that is how it has stayed.

I have tried the aqpc card, factory reset, pressing and holding the reset button, all to no avail. ESC just stays on orange no matter what and it won't work atall now.

I have also removed and re-installed the original software.

Then problem seems to be that the esc now won't register with the software, it gives a read error on the screen.

I am guessing it is back to horizon time? But thought I would ask here before I call them in the morning just in case.........

Anyone got any idea what is going on?

When you plug it in does the "V2" software register the speedo is plugged in? Did you reset all factory defaults?

No nothing registers atall. And It wont let me reset to factory defaults, it says "problem connecting to esc" or similar.

I think you will need to contact Horizon then.

Sounds exactly the same as mine - bad flash to the chip which means you or rather it is screwed....nothing you can do with it.

Back to Horizon - who by the way dont have esc's in stock (spoke to them yesterday) they reckon could be 3 or 4 weeks before they have them in !!!

So obvious suggestion is try the shop you got it from see if they will replace....

FYI, the new speedos come with the new firmware on so you don't have to do it yourself. ;)

one just bought the other week which went wrond when i tried updating firmware....could have been my fault of course..

pal of mine has one which has been bang on with no problems at all....

he runs it in a lazer and it hardly ever gets warm even!

Yes, The shop got a credit and I used against another brand of speedo, you will have to check the current situation with Horizon but worked out ok for me.

Yup I spoke to them today and you're right. She is deaded, and has to go back. That's good news about the firmware though. I am just glad that I did check the lipo cutoff had registered, as I nearly just assumed it had(because when I gotthe software to "read" the settings on the esc it said lipo)and chucked the lipo's in. That would've been expensive. lol. Good job I am cautious.

Thanks for everyone's input and help on this!
