Hi!
I'm going to buy a Dark Impact soon. I like it more than the Keen Hawk and it seems to have more place under the body for the electronics than the KH. Well, to start with I'm going to run a Nosram Vision 14x2 motor in it, not so powerful but I'll begin with it until I have enough money for a Mamba Max system. So what should I upgrade/have in spare parts for the DI? Something that will break/wear out easy/fast? So tell me everything you know. Thanks!
Damn I'm bad at English! I'm Finnish...
Right, here is your list of upgrades
Change rear diff outpurts, 3racing do good ones for the rear, front are fine
Slipper clutch
Front CVD's (Tamiya DF02 fit)
Centre or front one-way
Associated B4 turnbuckles fit
B4 shocks sound good on it apprently
Buy a full set of suspension, so front and rear wishbones, rear uprights, front castor blocks and steering knuckles.

I only raced once and even with the mamba max on a grippy surface with jumps and bumps the rear diff outdrives were fine.. That said, DCM is right, they wont last forever being plastic...
The diff was HORRID after one race though because there was no slipper. The diff plates were heavily grooved from slipping (something has to slip I guess with that much power).
I now have the Tamiya slipper (with B4 spur and pads, so it is proper 48 pitch).
The kit shocks are probably fine if you ditch the kit oil and put in quality 70-80wt all round. If you go for the mamba max and want to race though then definitely need proper shocks to make it stick to the ground. I found it frustrating to race with the kit shocks - I knew why it was bad and there was little I could do about it (apart from totally change the shocks)
The B4 shocks are a better fit and are slop free unlike the kit or official hop-up shocks. I am now racing the tamiya hop-up shocks and with a decent setup (hard piston all round, 40wt front, 30wt rear, white tamiya TRF springs rear (similar to AE green), blue AE springs front) they seem pretty good - but from the box they are worse than useless, simply far too soft.
I drove it for photos only with the fixed 4WD - I put the centre one-way in for racing, it makes the care more lively and turns nicer.

Hehe...Thanks everyone!:D Good tips about the shocks too! Thanks again!
Oh and Mrs. Oople: The Finnish word for July (If you mean the month) it is Heinäkuu. ;)
EDIT: Where can I find the slipper clutch for DI? Or is it the B4 slipper you guys are using?
www.rwracing.co.uk was doing the slipper shaft to take the B4 slipper unit, but I think he is out of stock at the moment, otherwise the Tamiya one will accept a B4 spur gear (get rid of them nasty .5module spurs), but you will need to slightly ream the centre hole in the spur.

Have a look here http://search.stores.ebay.co.uk/Jasons-Store_df03_W0QQfciZ5QQfclZ3QQfsnZJasonQ27sQ20Store QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ3QQftsZ2QQsaselZ8173167QQsofpZ0 he sells a lot of bits for the DF-03, both standard and hop-ups ;) One th9ing I noticed is he does the Kawada conversion kit which means you can use pretty much any 48 pitch spur on the DI. I couldn't find the centre 1-way set on his page (but he does do the front 1-way) but if you look here http://search.stores.ebay.co.uk/Vellrip_df03_W0QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ3QQfsnZVellripQQfso oZ1QQfsopZ1QQftsZ2QQsaselZ104126231QQsofpZ0 this guy does the centre 1-way and again, most of the spares and Tamiya hop-ups. I've bought pretty much everything for my DF-03 from these two guys, apart from the 3 racing stuff which came direct from 3 racing. :)
Hope this helps,
-Steve
EDIT just noticed that neither of them have the Tamiya slipper conversion listed at the moment.

In addition to DCM's list, get some A-parts sets and 3 Racing's Ti screw kit.

thank you for all the answers:) Now here's a new question:
Would Proline and Losi tires fit the stock DI rims? If not, would rims from the Losi/AE cars fit then on the DI so I could use other tires

you can fit any modern offroad tyre on there. Schumachers might need the bead trimming as it's quite wide - but this is the case on most wheels (proline etc)

Can I recommend a few sets of part# 53728. Nice white dish wheels. DI standard wheels are a bit larger. The softer Proline tyres would stretch over the standard wheels however.

Just wondering...Is it any different between the Dark Impact & Keen Hawk except the body?
no there isn't, they are the same.

one minor difference is the di has black wheels and the kh has white, but I have also seen yellow, green and orange ones to buy to.
I want pink ones

Now the Dark Impact is ordered from RCmart (http://www.rcmart.com).:) . Can't wait to get it and start to build it! I also ordered a Slipper Clutch set, some spare gears and a M.Troniks Viper Tempo11 ESC:)
man, and I am selling mine, chassis conversion, B4 slipper unit, front CVD's, hop-up shocks, centre one-way and other things
Hey all
Is the DI any good as I want a cheap buggy but it looks as though it only takes stick packs :(

Now I have got my Dark Impact:) . I can just say that Wow! This buggy is cool! I love it! Here are 2 pics of it. I haven't painted the body yet thought...And the pics are taken with a cellphone so the qualit isn't any good...

Now I need to know a good motor for this buggy. Brushed and Not under 11 turns. The Nosram Vision 14x2 motor doesn't have enough power to impress me...So any ideas of a new motor?

Get a Checkpoint in there. I know they do a 10x2 off road motor but I think they also do a 12x2. One of my mates borrowed my DF-03 for racing at Canterbury on monday, he stuck a 19 turn Checkpoint in and proceeded to rag the car round the track during practice until it was virtually flat (running a 4900mAh Trakpower lithium!!) and the motor was still nice and cool. Very powerful motor as well.

come on, someone buy me DF03

Need new shocks for my DI! The stock shocks are horrible!! I use 55WT with the 1 hole piston and still, it feels very bouncy and the bottom hits the ground after just small jumps! So I need new shocks. But the Tamiya option shocks are so expensive and B4 shocks also. So I need some cheaper ones. What do you guys think about the 3Racing shocks for DI?

Wait a sec...Plastic?! The outdrives on my DI were steel:o
the rear outdrives are a plastic and metal mix, the actual part that the driveshaft goes in, is metal, the part that the diff plate sits on, is plastic, and it is that part that isn't up to the job.
