No receipt, but you are mistaken. I had to send my non TC version back (in my pan car) and that was replaced without fuss and without receipt. The serial number tells them it was UK supplied. You really going to keep a receipt for 25 years? Put your mind at ease give the UK distributor a call http://www.s-m-d.co.uk/

Nick.

Sorry guys but Budfish is quite right, if you have no recipet then SMD will not give you any warranty at present, the reciept is your proof of original purchase if you read the warranty conditions, once the unit changes hands (ie becomes 2nd hand as in this case) the warranty is over, it is only ever for the original purchaser for a time of up to 25 years.

It is designed to give you peace of mind when you buy it from new, that for as long as "you" own it, for a time scale of 25 years (they had to stop using the term LIFE for legal reasons) it is covered under warranty when accompanied by the purchase reciept for all regular warranty issues.

So many people keep hold of the warranty card which is not how it works, your card (for any and whatever reason) should be filled out as soon as you get it and returned to SMD (or your local dealer) to activate the warranty, not held on to for a rainy day or for added re-sale value use (of which it is no good now anyhow)

Sadly it is poeple who have "twisted" the warranty procedure with LRP that have caused them to clamp down on how it works, the racers only have themselves to blame for this, hell I even saw someone a short while ago on here asking to buy just "a warranty card"...... I wonder why?

From what I understand, the main Mirage guy left. Then Mirage, UK distributor of HPI/HotBodies was absorbed by HPI (to be named HPI UK)

Technically you are correct about transfer of warranty, but having read the entire warranty terms nowhere does it state a need for the original receipt. Simply sending back the warranty card by the new owner would be perfectly sufficient but I feel that this thread has now been killed by all these speculative posts.

this thread was created because it seemed some members might find some of the information usefull regarding warranty cards and reciepts and could be discussed away from someones for sale thread.

Why don't you do as I do - I keep the receipt and warranty card in the box the item came with. Then when you need it, you've got it. All you've got to do is remember where you put the box...

BTW, it looks like LRP has quitely scraped their 25year waranty on the latest SXX ?

What a shame, this was the very thing that made LRP worth the extra money. Did they think they can scrap it and still sell their ESCs as expensive?

Can someone confirm this is the case (Darren?) ?

Where did you hear that? News to us if they have, every unit we have in stock still has the 25 year warranty label with it.

They did abolish the "Lifetime Warranty" a while back for some "legal reasons" and had to re-word it as 25 years.....

And as Budfish rightly adds the warranty does only cover the "original" purchaser not the 2nd owner onwards (which is why they require the proof of purchase to prove your name is the name on the store receipt when it was first brought)

The Sphere & SPX is 25year waranty. Did you check the new SXX ?

The Sphere & SPX is 25year waranty. Did you check the new SXX ? It was the SXX I was referring too, just checked the instructions included in my own personnal one and it states the warranty is "90 days (for non european countries only)", no referance to it being any different to normal for the UK (whose law I thought ensured it was longer anyway ??? 1 year ???)
