Hi guys.
A few of us are looking in to starting an outdoor off road 10th electric track in Keighley west yorkshire. We have been offered a nice piece of land that we can do preity much what ever we want with. The area is large enough for a nice sized track with plenty of pitting space. Im posting this to see how much interest we have from racers in this area. Our local club 10electric has round 10 members that have shown an interest in racing. We require people to help set this up and help run it. If you are interested please post or send me a pm. If we can get enough people interested we will go for it!

Good luck with the new track hope it goes well, you could maybe get it included for next years regionals and save all the Yorkshire folk travelling up north to dark and dingy geordie land (runs and hides). Couldnt you build it closer to York as we dont have a outdoor track.

I don't think tomorrow would be the best day to get people there with the regional on at Batley. Why don't you come down to Batley and see what the track looks like to give you some ideas? Or even race at the regional?

Just a quick update. A few of us went over there the other night cutting the grass, got about 2/3 of the way round before it chucked it down! lol
The track is about 35m wide an 40m deep. next time we go over we're gonna get some pics on here to show the size of it.
James at this very min is off to pick up a shed load of half round guttering for the track.
We're planning on going over there saterday, if anyone would like to help out or even just pop over for a look/chat, your more than welcome.

Hello, I live in Skipton and am looking to come back to 1/10 off road after a long time off. Used to go to Harrogate club but nothing local enough now so a club in Keighley would be ideal. I go back to something called the craven model car club which was a good club in the 80's with lots of members. Let me know at what stage the planning is and I might have to open my wallet and spend some cash on a new car then turn up and destroy it. Double cost as 11 year old son is wanting to race too. Im an electrician if my skills would help with any setting up then please ask. Cheers Trevpotter Hi guys.

We are thinking off keeping the track just grass for now. Are you thinking about 1/8 nitro or electric?
chalky
09-07-2009, 10:00 AM
nitro 1/8 cant see the point in 1/8 electric
grass is fine. you could probably make the track to accomodate both 1/8 and 1/10 so you would have more people to help build the track (2:cry:)and get it off the ground
is this where the stock car club is as well?
I think (after NRX) that it's best not to mix 1/8 and 1/10.
However it's not my call, so do what's best for the track!
SuperSparkSteve
09-07-2009, 08:08 PM
I can see where ur coming from Col, its hard to mix 1/8 and 1/10 as nitro run 20 min heats an electric run 5 min heats. That makes it hard to keep it fair with everyone getting the same amount of track time.
That's not what I meant.
The two cars require different tracks to suit their dofferent characteristics (sp).
For example - an 8th track is too big for 10th, and a 10th track is too small for 8th. And that's just the start!
A compromise could be made to run both, but then you struggle to get people traveling to race because the track is not the best available for their type of car.
chalky
09-07-2009, 08:29 PM
why not try and cater for both to start with and see how the entries go it will bring in some money for the club also come autum/winter all the elec boys go indoors. if you have a decent track you will get 1/8 cars all year round
1/8 only run 5 min heats but have longer finals

We have always posted on here when and what time we are going down to do some track work. Any help that people can give, no matter how small would be very much apprecaited.
At no point has anyone been asked to cough up money when they come to help out! There are 4 of us that have started this club and we have all dug into our own pockets to fund this, James being the person that has spent the most of his own money. James is also the person that took time out to come and have a look at the car you couldn't build properly STAMPEDE VXLBOY.

Anyone interested in racing Saturdays? Or is Sunday better?
maybe if we get enough interest we could do both, but on alternate weekends, so 1 week we have a Saturday meeting and the week after we have a Sunday meeting.
What do people think??
Sounds like no-one but the hardcore members will know when you'll be racing.
Personally I'd stick to one day.

we will be there at about 1 to set the track up, aim to start racing at 2. i think the guys finished at about 5/6ish but it all depends on how many people turn up. There was about 12 people racing last weekend but as we have just started the club numbers will be low until the word gets about. hopefully anyway!! lol

after packing up last meeting we was done for about 7.30pm
a few of us was setting up at about 12ish but we are asking most to turn up at 1pm
at the moment we are running 2 rounds with 5 min break after round 2 before round 1 starts but as more people come this will change.

what size pinion gear does people use on the track i got a 19/20/23/25/28 /21
Si Coe
12-08-2009, 10:29 AM
Heavy normally equals stable so thats a good thing. Won't make you the fastest thing around the track, but that new Mamba of yours should propel your Bandit as fast as it can handle even with the lead.
You'll be fine!
Now get out there and race with any more faffing! Jeez, you're like a woman......
SuperSparkSteve
12-08-2009, 10:39 AM
Im not sure what pinion u should use with a bandit, bring all of them along and have a bit of trial an error. the track will be open for a bit of practice before racing starts so u can have a bit of a play around.
Like Si Coe said, heavier the car the more stable it will feel over bumps. Maybe u should ask Si Coe to come down and be your pit bitch for the day!! lol

Probably not the best attitude to have when your looking to race yourself and gain advice from experienced racers.
15 Miles is a local track, most here travel all over the country to race. Worksop is around 70 miles from my place - i class that as my local buggy venue.
Thats not far fella, its only a 20 minute car journey. Could be another option for you if the weather turns pap.

No worries Sam. I think Simon got his wires crossed a little! Its going OK the area is coming along nicely now. Were starting to think about getting some permanent features set up. Also looking into the possibility of running 1/8th through the winter.... If that's OK with the other guys. The track area seems to have excellent drainage. Apparently it was used as a land fill years ago. Maybe that helps? Anyway as Steve says meeting up at 12 - 1 to prep track and race whatever the weather:D The model engineers will be there too with their trains.... Train rides 40p, BARGAIN:D
