Some Information If You are attending the Southport National
The Cafe is Open:- from about 7:00 'til around 6:00pm serving hot food and drinks as well as a few sweets and cans of pop. There will the usual "stand pipe" arrangement for cold water throughout the weekend
Toilets:- as usual the clubhouse toilet facilities will be available from around 6:30am through to around 9:00pm, thereafter there will be toilets outside the clubhouse.
Speed Limit:- for real cars across the field is 2mph
Entrances to the park:- There are 2 ways directly into the park. do not use the entrance near the boating lake that takes you past the childrens playground. The entrance to the park is the "middle" one by the garden centre. However if it is very wet, then this entrance becomes waterlogged so please be careful - we will have measures in place to (hopefully) cope with this eventuality.
Directions to Victoria Park
From the North: - Exit M6 at Junction 26 joining the M58 west until Junction 1(switch island) Carry straight on the A5036 following Brown Information Signs for Southport Tourist until the first set of traffic lights (Police Station & Travel Inn on right) Turn right (sign posted Formby) A5207 North Perimeter Road. Straight on at Lights into Lydiate Lane (A5207) at next set of lights turn right (sign posted Southport) A565. Keep on A565 (Formby Bypass) for Approx. 6 miles, after passing RAF Woodvale Airfield on the left take the next left at the traffic lights (Coastal Road). At the Second Island take the third exit onto Weld Road then first left onto Rotten Row. Entrance to the track is 100 yards on left
Sat Nav:- Rotten Row, PR8 2BZ
The Track:- has seen some big changes over the past few weeks - the biggest change is the new astro turf sections that have replaced the grass....it's the same astro as we have on the straight and it is very very grippy.
Caravans:- There are still some Caravan spaces left, if you want them please PM me on here for my address details. Please note that if you bring a campervan onto the park, you still have to pay the £10.00 camping fee and bring a copy of your insurance for our records. Please be aware this condition is imposed by the Council not the Club...
Victoria Park:- will be open from 2:00pm on Friday 17th July. There will be no admission to the Park before then for caravans/tents/pit tents etc.
The Weather:- has been booked, we requested glorious sunshine....
Litter:- There will be plenty of bins around the site and a skip too....please use them!
I think that is all the information that you need for the time being, If I have missed something obvious, please let me know. I have recently changed my mobile phone, so the number you have for me on the national information pack is no longer valid - my new phone number is here (http://www.srcc.co.uk/index.php?pid=35).
As you will see when you come to the National, we have worked hard to make the track as good as we possibly can - we look forward to you racing at our track once again and hope that everyone has a good weekend.

Has there been new astro laid after last year??? I was told there was and the grip level was low??? This has surprised me as the grip there last year was mega!!!!!!
I'll be taking track photos at the regional on sunday (none of the 4wd A).
I've not seen the changes yet, but I hope there will not be a new series leader next week.

The track is basically the same as it was, but with the new grip levels you need to attack/back-off in different areas. I found it difficult at first because I know the old track so well, but by the end of today I was into the new game. I suspect that folk who don't know the track as well as the locals will find it less difficult to adjust.

Can't remember if have been given a place at southport national? Can somebody on the reserve list that has had a recent update from pw let me know if my name is on there. Chris Stewart. Thanks. Or if anybody can pm me mr worsleys email adress then I can contact him myself. The track pics look great by the way
Changes from last year to this year are subtle but significant....
Grass sections replaced with new astro (same type as used in the straight in 2008)
Worn out astor on back section replaced with new (as per above).
Doubles section replaced by 4-way table top - more forgiving to drive and the extra exit allows more track options.
New additional exit opened up (Stu's last picture - far left of shot) to allow more track options.
A new island has been made at the clubhouse end of the straight to make an additional sweeping entrance leading on to the straight, entrance also has new astro. (previously it was a sharp 90deg over some bumpy grass only used on club days).
Tarmac corner has been resurfaced due to the old surface starting to break-up quite badly.
Hopefully before the national the new astro will get re-streched and any unwanted lumps or bumps that have appeared will be smoothed out. :D

I think we do have a free caravan space, but you would have to check with Chris. He was at the track tonight, but had left his phone at home, you should be able to get hold of him in the morning. If there is a place you will need to provide copies of your insurance and stuff - council regs :bored:

Yes the insurance is only for caravans/campervans as we are in public park.
Just make sure there are spaces in between the tents to reduce any risk of fire.

He has managed to break the strangle hold and dominance we have had on this for the last 7 nationals previous with the X-Factory X6 chassis.

Well my weekend was interesting. Saturday i didnt really pull it all together. Had a good round 4 but by which time it was to little to late. Had a great final even though i didnt win it. I have to say i was loving my move into the first corner.
And today well.... Went out in practise in the pouring rain. And car went ok was a bit slippy but ok. Round 1 was a crash fest between me, neil and Poor Andy Mountford (Sorry Andy). Round 2 cash smashed into the back of me. Breaking my rear pivot block and my diff outdrives and saver cups. Got it fixed. 5 minutes before round 3 I found my front wheel was a bit tight in places so took the LCD out and found it was gunged up. Which meant i missed round 3. Round 4 put it on the line and found it had on and off throttle found out that one of my reciever wires had snapped off my speedo. Thanks to Matt For fixing it for me . Then after qualifying dead last. After changing most of the car. Diff tension, slipper, shock oils, springs, shock positions. I put it on the line and find that the posative battery wire had a bad joint on the speedo so it broke off. So it was a bad day.
So thanks for everyone who helped me.
Well done to Blitz and Jeff for marhalling on saturday.
Well dont to stan the man for 2nd on saturday.
Thanks to Dan for the push on friday.
Also message from my mum. Griff you have nice hair and skin. Rish Lowe you have nice eyes. lol

Lucky with the weather today, although we did have some wet rounds I think it could have been a lot worse and the track was actually really good in all conditions (and no tyre confusion = green BB's whatever condition).
Big well done to Colin May for a stonking day, really pleased for you mate.
Another Big well done to Matty Latham, for his best ever 4wd result and a very good B final qually position, shame you DNF'd the final as you were up there mate.
The track was fantastic, good meeting guys. Thoroughly enjoyed my C final race, I was worried it was going to be carnage like the few finals leading up to it, but it turned out to be quite clean.

Big thanks to Southport this weekend - track was awesome but defo needs more practice. Rain didnt affect atmosphere but highlight of the weekend was Truman on mic, the lad is a hero and comes out with some awesome comments that you can not help to laugh at - good work fella.

Thanks to all for a great weekend, thoroughly enjoyed the track too
Good skills to Colin May, 1st time 'A' finalist.

There was quite a lot of talk about Colin being a 'local' driver, it's not actually the case. He is local in terms of region, but not club.

who cares if your local or not, still gota drive pretty damn good on the day! I couldn't live with him on that back section in our race.
Well done!

Doesn't matter about any talk Stu. Colin was absolutely awesome to make a A final takes some doing but to qualify as high as he did was a credit to the region.
Also from the mid west a excellent drive for Stanners on saturday just couldn't pip Cragg and well done to Yardy again brilliant drive from 10th to 3rd - Midwest going strong

Thanks to everyone involved, had a great weekend.
Took me all weekend to get my head around the track but love the new layout, the 4wd was awesome even if I did keep trying to turn right on the concrete
Well done to Neil and Pidge but I take my hat off to Stan and Lowe. Rich Lowes move on Cragg over the table top was amazing, go Team Two Fingers ;)

Thanks to all at Southport for the weekend, had my 2nd best National Weekend EVER!! C Final in 2wd, B Final in 4wd, happy days, hoping the B Final has secured the F1 for the first time too
First of all apologies to the lads for not going out on Saturday night but looking at the results of those who did I'm happy I stayed in, mentions in that category go to Mike Elliott, Robbo, Big Tinnerz, Rob Harris and of course Mr Riley!!
Further to going out, congratulations must go to Robbo who managed to pull for the 3rd time in Southport (I think) and for the 2nd time getting the bird to the track on Sunday, Good Job!
Great work from MCDC and MCTT as always, TT, superb job and keeps getting better and better, looking forward to more fun at Stotfold! 'Drag Race' and 'Freight Train Baby' being 2 of the favourite sayings!
I'd also like to thank the ref's for their great job this weekend (and I'm not just saying that because I helped on Sunday!) Damo, Northy, Pete, Stu and the others give up their own time at the meetings to ref, I hear there was a dispute at the end of the meeting but as I never heard it, it's not my place to say but I hope you guys carry on the good work, it helped me to get throught the traffic a couple of times this weekend and would be a shame to lose you all.
Final congrats go to the Team 'friends', Matty Latham for his highest National finish (doesn't beat my B Final 4th - both classes - at Oz though dude :p) and Colin May for his A Final which clearly does beat my highest national finish !!
Great weekend, looking forward to next year already
