It was that mkII but i shall convert it to original, since its never been run that car and i have chassis that have the batteries more forward ZX/ZXR chassi. Unfortunaly i sold the upperdec for that car but hey i can get another one and I have an LAW 12 laying around and i have been egar to do something with it so maybe i fit it to that car.

Welsh Them B4 spurs what is the largest of them ???

i was thinking of getting bigger diameter slipper and use the old slipper type that sandwich them gears between and use b4 slipper pads but the discs for now are smaller then B4 dito. Do you know what i mean?? I have an guy at work that are willing to machine it , i asked the same guy about the LA118 and i asked if he could duplicate it and he asked how many ??

mvh Isobarik

was i at the starting rooster at the club ???

Welshy40
15-11-2009, 01:59 PM
Im unsure about the b4 spurs as i only use the one that came with the kit and havent needed to replace it yet.

The zxr(s) chassis i designed balances the car really well with the cells being moved to the best position.

I have recived the 3Racing X5 drive shafts for the rear but i dont know if they have packed it wrong since they are like 68mm long so they fit in the front but not in the rear.

Since there are driveshaft for the front and rear i´ll suppose they are different lenght any way i talked to the supplier of 3racing in sweden and he is gouing the check it .

Not bad. As its been a very long time since ive had to rebuild my diffs how many holes are there in the original compared to this. My ones being made have a couple more holes and is super smooth.

isobarik
17-11-2009, 02:54 PM
Welsh there are 10 in the original pullys

I also have these pullys that have 12 balls but they use a smaller ball more like 3/32.

http://proxy1.pixbox.se/arkivet/synligt_33/26850000-26859999/640x480/26857937.jpg

also very smooth i just took em for the nice pullys and they were very cheap.

mvh Isobarik

ps do you want me to send you the K ??

Welshy40
17-11-2009, 04:43 PM
Hehe the k that put picasso to shame, no thanks mate. Should be a good mug stand though.

The diffs are pretty mych identical to mine, smaller diff balls but more of them does get rid of the gritty feeling that the standard ones have. Your getting quite a good collection and sooner or later will have as much as me. Then the lets get out there and show them newer isnt always better.

Warning

I have earlier stated that the

LA231 Front driveshafts for the ZX5
LA232 Rear driveshafts for the ZX5

fit the ZXR and it does not
the w-5063 is from pin to pin as the new type measure 65
that means that the zxr can use the the LA232 reardrive or 3Racing dito shafts in the front if you want the new look clamp hexes. And the rear fits in front instead of the W-5063 as i have cheked that.

Sorry for all the inconvinience it may have caused.

working on a solution for the rear...
by the looks of it the LA245 ( 62,5 ) shall fit. I have ordered it will let you know.

This is old news, its been on ebay for the last year and six or so months. Its quite expensive, my two ZXS Prototypes are worth that each (or maybe more) and they are built. Mind you as there were only 200 of the ZX-S Evo and 300 of the ZX-S ever made maybe thats why the shop is over pricing it.

isobarik
19-11-2009, 09:04 AM

Welsh do you know when the LAW-20.1 is in youre hands ???
mvh Isobarik

Welshy40
19-11-2009, 10:53 AM
I am guessing late December, early January as I have had to pull favours (and bribery) in Japan to get them and as there is only one route of getting them here (through another company) I have no say in when it will appear, but it will get here and will update you as soon as I know. Miracles do happen and may be here sooner than that.

Hehe how much do you think my new built and unused ZX-S Evo Prototype is worth? More than the ZXS on Ebay?

isobarik
19-11-2009, 01:25 PM

Nerds were not, crazy yes especially as this was a great design. Ask anything you want. I have already a friend who can make plastic bits for this car already and we have already found a belt maker, as well as body shells and gear covers maker as well so you can race this and not worry about breaking anything, even though that will be very hard to do as the car is rather strong. Check out www.radiocontrolzone.com and look at the lazer zx, zxr, alpha thread and you will see most tests and developments done on this car to make it more user friendly as well as a more stable platform for todays competition.

Isobarik,

Ive just had a call telling me that the items that were sent from Japan are being sent to me today or tomorrow, which means I may have a kick up plate in there for you.

trd179v,

Well I liked the Lazer ZX so much I raced it competitively from 1989 all the way up to 2000, and still enjoyed winning events with it before I called it a day. I redesigned it so much it was basically a different model. Bits can be made for the ZX / ZXR and now the ZX-S (as I am still using mine) as parts are always needed.

However there are good things that have come from this, as we have redesigned gearbox items to make stronger (I had a few good ideas as well for strengthening the ZXS front end) so they can still take a beating.

Im doing the Petit event in January and pics will be up next year sometime on their website with my new updated designs if your interested.

And finally yes the ladies are sweet and innocent and polite but when the lights go off they can be quite wild.

Is that all you have, only 9? Ive a hell of a lot more. Front and rear gearboxes as well as layshaft gears and steering plastic bits are almost ready to sell for the zxs. San Fernando Valley and So Cal raceway in Orange county Ca. What about spare parts? Where did you source them? Did you ever get the GPM upgrade Bling parts? I probably bid against you on Ebay.LOL. I had spares galore and too be honest only broke two rear belts in the years and two belt pulleys. It was a brick that I just redesigned over the years and also designed the first tub chassis for this buggy. That made the car a much better car for carpet, the very first design actually had cell holes cut out of the chassis to lower the centre of gravity a bit more, so the cells just came through the slots. Also the cells were further inwards by 5mm on either side and also 5mm further forwards on the chassis as this balanced it perfectly for all conditions rain or shine.

I modded the front hubs with Teamline 7.5 degree castor blocks. Lunsford Tie rods all round, I got rid of the brass belt holders and cut away the plastic lips on the inner rear gear box and cut away everything but both sides of the front rear section gearbox. I also had a redesigned front shock tower so if I rolled it carried on rolling onto its wheels. Different designed shock towers and I used gear diffs indoors and pure ten ball diffs out doors. 10 Double with a 23 pinion and 100 spur. Associated ball joints all over, wider front ujs and of course used the wider hole on the castor block. Pure ten steering parts to stop bump steer totally. ZX steering alloy brace aided this as the ZXR one didnt zero it totally.

Have a look at radio control zone.com and look up the Lazer ZX, ZXR etc thread as all the mods I did are on there.

Still I enjoyed winding people up with it when I won events well after it stopped being made.

I think they are B44 trays. If your after ones for the ZX-S I have already designed them and got them made by Fibre lyte. A one piece tray and i dont appear to need any extra weight to make it handle with Lipos which is great.

Also bad news, the package turned up yesterday and it appears that the alloy plates are not in there. I have already emailed them and am awaiting their response. Its possible they forgot to put them in so lets hope they turn up soon as I want the other one.

fibre lyte have just done carbon fibre but the 4400 saddles are the biggest that fit under the top deck with a little room to have corally connectors on the joining wire. You will need to cover the connectors to stop shorting the cells on the top deck.

Im trying to get a brass one made but will not know until the petit event as it may be ready for that. To be honest im using the cf one and appears to work fine and doesnt need extra weight.

Ive made a tray that goes across the chassis as a one piece. Ive based it on my chassis but are in line on both sides as the car doesnt really work with the cells in different places on either side of the chassis.

Well the quality from Kamtec is better than the original, and you get twice the length of use with his shells. I am still using my ZXS shell and its over two years old and still looks new. Keith is currently a one man band so takes time to get onto doing his molds but has confirmed he will get the Parma Tomcat shells for the ZXR done by hopefully March and the ZXR will hopefully be done not long after that. He just has not had time due to having to prioritise his workload with the biggest orders first. Still you now have an alternative until Keith does his shell. Price is maybe a couple of pounds more and does not come with an undertray unlike Kamtec who do supply them. Still good find Ema

If any of you guys are doing the Petit then you will find me there. Hope to see you soon.

Im guessing by the pics it looks like a mk one but looks more like the zx-sport ( nothing at all like a zx-s which is a different car alogether).

If your up for a restoration the fibrelyte is the place to go as they make the best carbon fibre so a worthy investment. If you are up for something just a little bit special that improves the performance then my designed chassis, top deck and shock towers and servo plate. Then you can use the zx-s shell, parma tomcat or any zx or zxr shell as they all fit. I have a link for the bloke who bought my car but was wrong with what he wrote relating to the performance and he saw it go and was chasing for the lead in the regional a before my ball joint fell off. Its more stable and more agressive if required.

Well, I finally have the new-to-me Lazer in hand. There are a few pleasant surprises.

Tekin 411-G2: not sure if it works but I'd be willing to bet it does.

Aluminum ball bearing steering bellcranks: just cool, never seen this one before. Anyone know who made this?

Aluminum rear dogbones and front universals: I have never seen aluminum dogbones or universals for a Lazer before. Anyone have any info of these? They're in pretty good shape but I don't think I'll be using them. If I ever build a shelfer, they'll probably find a home there.

I'll get the rest of the pics up tomorrow night.

Dogbones come as standard on most models on the rear and Ujs come as standard on the front. Lazer ZX5 ones fit and look nicer but they are a specific part number and possibly Isobarik has the part numbers somewhere, as I have lost that information when my laptop died.

The alloy pivot block holders are a must as without them the car will break. These are the only items on the car that do need replacing as the plastic items didnt do the job properly.

Spares are easily obtained and a friend of mine makes the plastic bits such as gearboxes and layshaft gears and soon diff gears (I havent tested the diff gears yet) as well as bodyshells too from Kamtec

Good as the gearbox front is a work of art. He took the information from Radiocntrolzone that I did and made it without the brass bushing holders and strengthened the top section as well. The layshaft gears seem just as good as the original and the first one is in my car and handle my X12 5.5 with ease and I have not broken one yet. Diffs though will be the best bit to come as I have given him my prototype pulley and is with more ball holes that are smaller and makes the diff super smooth, how it should be, unlike the standard Kyosho ones where they have a gritty feel. Cant wait for them to arrive to test. The blue steering chassis bits are well done as well and no issues there either. Im going to redesign it with a servo saver but haven't got that far with my idea as of yet but hope to do it this year and it will be only fractionally bigger in size. Possibly sometime this year he may send me a set of wishbones to test as well to see if they can handle the abuse I give out when testing.

Firstly stickers. Thats easy and best place to go is the tamiyaclub.com as there is a sticker copy specialist who does a lot of tamiya and kyosho stickers from vintage models. Also he is a top bloke who will point you in the right direction if he cant help you.

Secondly a lazer club online. Mmm i thought you already new and found the best of the best online information mods and best improvements for a zx / zxr in the world. That being the below link.

http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=94239&pp=25&page=52

I know its one of the biggest threads but the great stuff happens from page 8 onwards. It a lot of stuff so read and sink in the info from page one to the last page before you invest in any upgrade as there are a lot of different people who know their stuff all putting their knowledge into one pot and then all that going into the design of the upgrade (which i may add is stiill in development on the diffs) of the ZXR-S. Named rightly so by HKP who is one big collector , racer and model reviewer so knows his stuff.

Well, before starting buying all original spares in order to build an original Zx-r (you can see my thread here ...) I was thinking that 550 USD were really to much.

Now, if I have to consider the cost of all parts and the shipping cost for all of them I think it's a good deal ...... obviously only if your Lazer will sit on a nice shelf.

This one was an used car and was sold "with buy it now" at 200 euro:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120507914901

Unfotunately I cannot find the link of a new original in box bumper OT-93 sold for about 80 euro on the bay ....

About the Lazer Club ... yes, I'm quite new (not really true at all, as my first car was a Kyosho Rocky) but trust me I spent really a lot of time in order to get all possible information about the Lazer.
The 99% of the Internet user that will open that thread will read only the last (or first) 3 or 4 pages.
Plus we can add a trade room where Lazer Fans (both collectors or runners) can buy or sell what they need (also improved parts Dyno parts, etc. ect.)
And obviously there will be some pages about the Welshy special projects :D, so please remove the dust from you iPhone camera and show us some photos :D :D!!

Ok, but the wording on the below link is spot on until he says its not as good as the zx5 which if i still had it would beat them convincingly which i may add was far quicker than predators, shaft drive cars and proved how stable it was when i challenged for the lead in the regional a final. Still my preparation was not done properly as the rear shock ball joint came off and ended up 6th which was annoying. Still hope the pics do the very first zxr-s justice and will find the starting pages (21 has a lot of info on but you can go back to page one and read through and see where it all began) for you on the radio control zone thread.

Firstly stickers. Thats easy and best place to go is the tamiyaclub.com as there is a sticker copy specialist who does a lot of tamiya and kyosho stickers from vintage models. Also he is a top bloke who will point you in the right direction if he cant help you.

My appologies Mr Welshy, I am slowly learning who has the knowledge I seek and appreciate all the help you and EMA have given me thus far, Thanks:D Back in the day I used to race localy(I live in Montreal, Canada by the way) I just started to get itch again. But as you know it takes a car to race, and from what I've seen, the quality of todays cars is not what it used to be. Thats not to say that they are not well engineered, but everything seems to be plastic. For my tastes, the lazer was one the nicest designes. Simple, efficient and easy to work on. I'm still getting the parts I need to refresh my old lazer, but the original stuf is hard to find. :cry:MY KINDOM FOR A OT-93 BUMPER!!!! From the looks of things my lazer will be sent out to pasture and become what is known as a "SHELF QUEEN". I'll be posting some before and after pics soon.

By the way, do you know if Kamtech is making the original body that came with the kit. I remember reading in one of your posts something about a aftermarket body replica for it, or I could be wrong:confused:

On the brighter side, I did find the CAT SX and liked what I saw and bought it. I don't know much about Schumachers fit and finish, but if their still around, I figure it can't be all that bad. Maybe you can tell me what the best brushless motor esc combo is these days. I've heard someone say TEKIN, but I was partial to LRP.

If you still have the original manual let us know which spare parts are you missing (the part no) .... we had learnt a lot of skills in searching Lazer parts ;);).

If you don't have the manual you can get the right PDF version here: http://www.retromodelisme.com/liste_manuel.html

Well, the OT-93is extremely rare, because will fit also the optima and there are a lot of optima collectors around the word.
You can try to convince isobarik, but be careful, he may ask a tank of your blood for that part     !!!

Firstly T93 is the rarest item and hard to get. But I will ask Dyno if he can make a mold and make them. They are exact copies and you would not know the difference as the colour is the same.Bodies, he is making a copy of a used ZXR shell so is taking time to fill in the holes and cracks so is a time consuming job. However I have sent him another shell (Parma Tomcat ) which is a direct fit and looks much better than the original and should be available sometime soon, however be warned this week and the next few I seriously doubt much will happen as the snow is causing a lot of problems. The Cat SX is a superb car. Motor combo, well I would serioulsy recommend getting an LRP SXX and either a 6.5 or 8.5

What I'm down to is the two belts LA-12 & LA-13, mk ll front shock stay and of course the bumper. I know that fiber-lyte makes the front shock stay but I don't like the look of the carbon fiber against the original chassis parts, I'd prefer to find a original. I'm waiting to purchase a shell from Kamtec, from what I've read here on the boards, he makes a nice product.

Thanks

Mitsuboshi beltcorp made the belts for kyosho and the markings on the toughracing belts are the same so one might say that they are original belts even if they dont come in an plastic bag that says kyosho on the header.

Shells, carbon fibre chassis, various shock mounts (almost all that were available), plastic items such as layshaft gears, front and rear gear box casings, steering parts and soon to be diff gears and maybe in the distant future wishbones and pivot holders.

NIB kits have been going for high dollars the last couple of years, I wouldn't personally pay that much for a car unless I *REALLY* wanted to have it. That being said, I've already got a couple of Lazers and Optima Mids and it doesn't make a difference to me if they're NIB or used when they're sitting on the shelf. I run my cars when I can, that's the enjoyable part for me but other get their kicks from having a minty, untouched, never-ran car on the shelf. To each his own.

I agree, me well i have one new unused shelfer and one i still run and as im no longer being told what events to race in i find it a lot more fun. Still have a laugh beating newer cars with my piece of racing history when i do my once a year event.

As already said ... I spent a lot of money and a lot of time for my Zx-r restoration (some parts are really impossible to find) but that was a car that I really WANT to have and probably will sit on a shelf into my house forever (my wife probably will not agree at all but I'm trying to convince her ;)).

I also agree that the funny stuff is to race our buggy again and to try to beat modern cars  .
So with the used (and optional) parts I will also build a racing Lazer ;) !

Once that an item is considered a collectable one, it has no really a fixed value.
The value depends on how many people wants to have it and how items are available.
Now there are a lot of people that wants to own a Lazer again (because they own this buggy, or they get into the RC world with it, when they were a teenager).
Personally I want this car because I was not able to buy it when I was young (it was too expensive).

I will never pay 1 million dollar for an used Madonna's underpants, but probably there is out there someone that can do that.

P.S. A Durango DEX10 is not really cheaper, however there are a lot of peoples that bought this car and they are not collectors .....

Is kamtec going to make them the original colour? Because bluegroove has them but only in clear.

early are smoked and later are clear

I have had the 900 turbo 16 actually if you look at the old 900 cc and an cockpit for the JA37 viggen they have an reasemblens.

Terrible!!! Practice i broke the front gearbox, did three laps. First race i did three laps and the two screws on the spur gear somehow managed to loosen off and stripped my spur gear. Second race the rear hub cracked on the ramp just before we pulled up to start. I did two laps until it broke off. Third race i drove safely and avoided crashing but held back a lot just to get a run. Then Dan Greenwood decided to try and set up my car. Got to say he did well as even though i couldnt push hard as id like (it was a bit high off the ground) and had mini pins on which i didnt feel were suited for my car) into the corners i did improve by two laps but two rounds wasnt enough to do much in qualiying. Still i did get put in a race with mr durango amd a few other nice blokes including Fabian who is a master at machining alloy chassis. Still i think im going to look at a few other set ups and need a spur gear to test my zx slipper system to stop it wheelting. We changed the rear end and made it worse so did terrible in the I final. Im a bit miffed as i can make a lot higher so need to rethink more on my setups.

Did you have Ball diffs or the standard Gear diff in your ZX Version.

Terrible!!! ......

Im very sorry too to hear that.
Were you running your Zx-s prototype ?

Welshy40
18-01-2010, 04:15 PM
Yes i used my zxs prototype.

I had a practice run, pity that i only did three laps in practice and the same laps in the first and second rounds which basically put an end to my day.

I used annsman madrat 2wd front wheels and zx5 fs rear wheels and were 2.2inch

i used an lrp sxx esc with a nosram x12 5.5 with an 87 spur and forgotten the pinion but possibly a 19. Ratio was 9.7 to 1.

I had standard zxr diffs as my ones have been sent off to be remolded as the proto ones are better. The cars were durango (gerd was in my heat race), ttech predator, tamiya trf 511, b44, lazer zx-5 (several types) and several one off cars as well.

I couldnt get the zx type slipper third diff gear so was unable to drive with any slipper clutch so did wheely under heavy power.

Sorry to hear of your troubles welshy, were you running your vintage lazer? Ema had mentioned he wanted to build a racer with his spare zx parts and that got me thinking, back in the early 90's motors could only produce so much power, these new brushless systems might be to powerful for those older gearing systems and cars. I've seen some tracks with virtical turns!!! The site sponsor shumacher, witch makes the beautiful Cat SX that I'm waiting to recieve, would be more of a contender.Thats not to say I've thought thae same way but I don't think it realistic to compete with the lazer, as good as I think it is. Maybe its time to create a vintage division.

Well, the Lazer is a really tough buggy, but there are a couples of weak point, if you can fix all of them why not compete ?

1 - The front gearbox LA32
The original front diff case were designed with a belt roller built in, but from the Zx-r version the roller is no more mounted. However unfortunately the LA32 were never redesigned and it is quite common to strip the front tower mount during heavy crash.
The problem can be partially solved using a carbon fiber tower and can be totally solved using the redesigned LA32 made without the roller mount (available from a Welshy friend)

2 - The arm mounts LA30
The plastic whisbone mount are weak, back in the days some company made some alluminium mount that fix the problem.

About the transmission you don't have to worry ;) !
The Lazer differential are shared with a lot of other kyosho projects, for example you can find them in the Inferno TR15 (gear diff) nitro buggy or into the Pure Ten (ball diff) nitro sedan.
If you have troubles with LA11 drive shaft pulleys, you can also use the new parts (always from the Welshy friend) that are tested using a 5.5 brushless motor  ( generally a 6.5 will be enough for everyone).

If you didn't like the original universal shaft you can also update them using the zx-5 CVDs.

I'm currently running also a 1995 Associated B2, with decent results.
Ok, I will not make the A final, but I can put a lot of B4 guys behind me and I really enjoy that .

Probably with the Lazer I will also not make the A final, but my target is only to put some newer car behind my Zx-r and have fun !!!

I agree, a vintage season would be perfect but the Lazer cars can handle the power, heck mine was one of the fastest in a straight line, just that it wouldnt go round the corners as fast. The ZXS is not an easy car to set up and I do not like high riding buggies so kindof annoyed Dan Greenwood when I couldnt drive it that well. Still he was correct but didnt know that its hard to set up especially to my style of driving. Not as easy to dial in like the B44 or Cat SX (Kevin Moores was stunning).

Im now on for getting a new car but need to sell my new unused prototype (im keeping my race buggy) but the going rate for this one is going to be high £800 to whoevers door for a signature as its one of the rarest out there. Comes of course with a new uncut shell and undertray (the original Kyosho ones).

Still I enjoyed myself a lot. 2wd was dialed by the final so was a bit late but boy did it shift in that final. Still thats going to be sold as well and looks great with my dragon shell on it.

Already designed and tested. Looks like the MMS gearbox but with a slight modification - no slot for the brass bushing. Strength has been put on the top as well with one big lip going all across so no weak points.

2 - The arm mounts LA30
The plastic whisbone mount are weak, back in the days some company made some alluminium mount that fix the problem.

Well I have design carbon fibre ones, so maybe you should take pics of the plastic ones or if anyone has the original pics of carbon fibre ones that I had made at fibre lyte then they are available as they should have this under my file. Plastic ones on the front were weak but the rear were ok.

About the transmission you don't have to worry ;) !

LA11 has been tested and withstands my LRP SXX TC ESC with X12 5.5 geared on 9.7 to 1 and with the slipper clutch tightened up all the way so no slipping at all and it took the beating with no issues. Better than the original pulleys. My mate Matt (Dyno on oople) is a genius.

Diff gears I am awaiting another one soon and will test soon but can see it being better before I have evan put into my car.

If you didn't like the original universal shaft you can also update them using the zx-5 CVDs.

OK - I have added to the above in bold. My plan was to beat them and didnt but mainly all this happened due to bad luck. Still cant grumble as I had a great time.

Nope none taken matey, just been busy. i did answer all in one on the last page. Im up for a vintage event and your car can handle the new motors with ease. Mine did. If I didnt answer your question ask away again and youll get an answer. Sorry just been rather busy and tired at work so havent been able to respond much recently.

I do kindof agree with you on the Lazer front and getting a cat SX will be a good car to race. Me i'm tempted to get a tamiya TRF511 and use that for the big events until I can get the ZXS to go the way i want it to. Its too low and doesnt go in and out of corners as good as I had hoped but the lipo tray worked perfectly as well as the chassis design as well. The gear boxes and layshaft gears were spot on and just a few strength issues that still need addressing on the front area as well as a major overhaul on the set up when I get a chance to test it properly. I would like to be able to better my placing by 70 positions next time I race my ZXS.

HKP - Yup you did and enjoyed having the mick taken out of me by quite a few people. Good fun. Thanks buddy and what a great weekend. Thanks for getting involved and butting in before I left as you were well aware that I was a bit shattered and wasn't really in the mood for a lengthy discussion with anyone. Much appreciated.

If its for the ZX-S then I would advise getting them milled out of aluminium as the plastic front gearboxes evan though my design is twice as strong as the original they still break on jumps. The three piece chassis and mainly the kick up plate flexes and causes movement which snaps the joins of the gearbox away.If its the ZXR I would advise PMing him and asking if he could do you a set.

Not MKII since you have not the 6 cell´s slotted chassi and angled battery straps, you use the hole LA-35 it has not been cutted since its the longer motor plate also refearing as an MKI.

MKII front shock mounts dough.

Extremly good condition car.

Thank you for your help so far. I will have to admit that I am not very knowledgable when it come to Kyosho's LAZER series of buggies. For me there are soo many models that I get lost easily.
I know that this car has a ZX-S shell but Ive also been told the blue steering componants are from that model aswell. Ive been told that the front and rear towers are that of the ZXR mk2 but I still need to learn what chassis plate I have. Also it has the adjustable one way bearing on the layshaft, do all the models have this?
Thank you, Jason.

The blue steering actually are in the begining for the GP10 or something like that ....anyway i think its also came standard on the evo.

mvh isobarik

Yup came on the zxs evo as standard, but was on quite a few models before team kyosho (jamie booth included) started using it on the zxr.

The one way improves the performance as well as well as the wider front end if you have it.

No mate, my design in my head is what he made. Have a close look at the inside of the gearboxes and yoi will see that they are milled out which was a dumb idea by the designer at kyosho. Makes it really weak and the bottom sections snap and crack.

My design was to fill out the milled out sections so tripling the rigidity and putting stength back there. Also slight changes to the section by the crap little flat rear screw, so it doesnt crack and snap. Still working on that end as its still too weak.

Thread lock works well if nothing else.

Lazer ZXR

seven slot chassi and long motorplate and an littleplate LA18 i think the number is that you actually screw the motor on to MKII dont have that plate.

MKII

six slot chassi batterys moved rearward and battery hold downs are angled
Short motorplate since the baa
ttery where moved to the rear the motor plate was shortened and there is very little place to adjust the motor also the motor plate is made in one piece not two pieces as in the zxr.

HKP is the current owner trying to sell it. Its kick up plate is an original just with the blue colour taken away. Its 88 percent new (including those incredibly rare ZX arms which I may add are the best wishbones out there) and in prestine condition. Worth the money he is after considering he spent a lot more on getting it to that condition than he is selling it for.

Iso - Any idea when the gear covers will appear?

I agree and will buy one myself as ive also had fibrelyte make a carbon fibre rear shock tower mount which i still have to drill through but with both items on it will be a totally CF gearbox and will look superb.

As long as the bits you cut away were not parts that are needed like the gear box covers Front and gear cover.

Im actually having nightmares about what you cut off the gearcovers as i need an exact original thats undamaged or cut to use as a master for kamtec.

Still great news you will finally have a working zxs but would strongly advise on using a stainless steel silver hex screws for the gearbox top section (in picture with two holes going through to rear pivot block holder) as they bend on impact and cant get off unless you have a big hex head on the screw.

Also would advise locking up the slipper if using a 5.5 motor but be warned if you dont the pad will melt. Mines locked and weight further forwards the front to stop wheelys.

I want to build a racer with my spare lazer parts, there are a couple of parts that I'm missing to finish it.

front gear box,
suspention arm carriers(preferably aluminium ones)
diffs

I know I told welshy that it would be a better Idea to race a newer car like the cat, but after building one, I apreciate the simple design of the lazer a whole lot more.
