though i'd just say a quick hello...am in 2 minds to start back on electric 1/10th been moving towards nitro but the feedback am getting is like i need to sell my soul to be good at racing have all the best kit etc. I want to do it more ov a social kick than anything start with secondhand stuff and see how i get on...use to race at the wirral club, years back started with a hornet!!!lol then boomarang and got a metoer always wanted a cat,so been on here a bit now and i like the lipo/brushless set up now seem's alot easy and cheaper, looking at 2wd, 4b or losi xxx and would be looking at racing in bury,does anyone race there and is it a friendly club to start all over again.
And how many on here are my age 36..my missus is like grow, up but i love model racing and gagging to get back into it hope there is more like me on here....laterssss

Lipo and brushless makes racing much easier and allows for socialising between races, rather than the old days of discharging, skimming etc etc.

There is a lot of 30 somethings racing (including me). Lots of people in your situation who enjoyed it in their youth and now have a bit of disposable income to make a come back.

B4 is maybe your best bet as its very well supported and easier to get trackside spares.

Dan speaks the truth. There is alot of good people at Bury and Southport who will steer you in the right direction, but you can't go wrong with either a B4 or xxx CR.
Pop down and have a chat with them.

Recently back in racing myself at 34. Run at Bury and Southport - finding I fit in pretty well at either because we're all a similar age. Makes for a pleasant social atmosphere.

Also as mentioned new tech helps:
Lipos can be charged the night before, and don't need discharging.
Brushless needs virtually no looking after.
2.4gHz means no interference and no need to change crystals
and personal transponders mean you don't need to fit and remove.

What this means is that I can turn up as the heat before finishes, switch on my car , drive my heat, switch off, marshal, swap batteries and socialise til the next round.......

Back into racing myself at Titchfield I'd go with the B4. Even though I've just sold my for a Cat SX. XXCR is now my 2WD machine.
