Hi, I am new to the R/C Car stuff and am wondering if the ThunderTiger ZT2 (electric 1/18) is a good starter car ???? I quite like the specs and the looks of it:eh?::eh?:

It has been recomended to me by reliable sources:)

I've had a bit of experience in the past with the it's ZK2 brother.

It is a good starter RC car if you accept its limitations. If you plan to race, it is not a common class (2wd micro). Not many shops keep the parts on the shelf but to be honest it is a robust little thing. Bit of a question mark over the quality of the standard ESC/RX although they may have been upgraded since the first ones came out. You can easily spend two or three times the original price of the ZT2 if you decide to upgrade to "standard" electronics"

It is a proper hobby-grade car, repairable and fully proportional control, so it's streets ahead of the toy-grade cars that are often sold at the same price.

Overall, great fun around the house or in an under-control garden, could be raced, but if racing is your main intention, best advice is to find a local club and see what they run there.

If your new see what the majority of members are racing at your local club (1/10 1/18). It would be better to buy a buggy so you get a good field of racers to compete against every week rather than be in a heat that might only have a few people in.

Firetyre,
The ZT2 is one of the most upcoming cars within the micro scene at the moment. For around £80 RTR youll get a car that is not only fully RTR but also comes with a geared diff and a very good reputation for its 'unbreakableness'.

The ZT2 is very popular as far as micro Nationals go, the 2WD class is drawing more and more drivers onto the entry list.

Paul at Trackside spares, based in Wales, can hook you up with all the ZT2 hopups and spares that you could ever need.

If you are looking to buy a ZT2 id highly recommend it :)
