View Full Version : oOple Euro 2009 Thread
Well it's that wonderful time of the year again, this thread is about as official as it can get for the rest of the world without it actually being official. This thread also turns out to be one of the most popular threads of the summer for those competing in the event and for those who are just interested in finding out what is happening.
So for starters i am flying out from stanstead on the Saturday lunchtime flight (easyjet) but i will be in the bar from approx 9am will i see anyone in there ?:)

Im still after a room share if anyone fancies it ?
If anyone wants in on a bulk tyre purchase let me know, i will be doing some enquiring tomorrow, obviously the more we have to buy the better deal we should be able to get :)
MiCk B.
14-07-2009, 10:27 AM
What tyres are people planning on bringing with them?
All yellows or a mixture?
MiCk B. :-)
Personally i was going to get mainly yellows and a couple of sets of greens, just in case it is damp/wet/sodden
Belsten
14-07-2009, 11:09 AM
Lee I would be interested in buying some too
Does anyone know if the tyre rule applies to both axles or just the rear ala BRCA rules ? Ive got loads of front minispike 1's
Belsten
14-07-2009, 11:27 AM
It does apply to the front of 4wd
Yeah i was going to say "driven wheels" I suppose it keeps things simple though.
22 sets of yellow rears 11 2wd mini spike yellow front spikes 11 stagger ribs
22 sets of green rears 11 2wd green fronts
11 4wd yellow fronts 11 4wd green fronts.
99 pairs should see you right :woot:
Bargain
Add more if you intend on making the A, personally im not planning on it this year, i need to keep the tyre bill to a minimum :woot:
bigred5765
14-07-2009, 12:05 PM
you not going with a set a run then lol
If anyone wants to order their tyres as part of a bulk buy with myself and a few others could you let me know asap, im going to put out a few queries this afternoon to see what we can get them for.
On a seperate note, who is taking their WAGs?
Belsten
15-07-2009, 10:17 AM
im travelling on my jack, catching the 7:30 flight from stansted on the sunday, getting a taxi from the airport to hotel if anyone fancies sharing thats on the same flight ?
Gonna take enough yellows for a set a run.... you can always bring some back ;)
How many runs do we get i have forgotten, i guessed at 11 in each class not counting 3 leg A's and the warm up A
Think lawson said it was like 3 practices, 5 qualifiers and a final?
bigred5765
15-07-2009, 12:22 PM
im pretty sure thats what it was at the last one we went to,
Mossy
15-07-2009, 01:43 PM
Normally atleast 5 practices on the first day, then 2 more on the second day plus 3 qualifiers. Last day normally one mini practice, 2 more rounds of qualifying and 1 final, unless u make the A then obviously a practice final and 3 legs.
14 if your not in the A, 17 if you are.
IceMike
15-07-2009, 02:14 PM
sums slightly off there si, 13 if your not 15 if you are :P

IceMike

14 for the Normo's and 17 for the special ones :woot:

No its not Si is right :eh?:
14 for the Normo's and 17 for the special ones :woot:
but that would mean that you do 3 extra races, difference between bein in an A final an not is normally only 2 races. so bein in the A do u get an extra practice at somepoint?
Yes they have a practice A

true my bad :P maybe one year ill come an be a pit bitch so i can see wot goes on. let it be somewhere nice an sunny with a beach and bikini babes :P
The euros dont go to miami
I think the dirt tracks kill the cars, especially the US ones where they put chemicals down over night to help the groove come up and it just eats the screws/ drive shafts/ alloy bits, a 1 meeting old car can look like its done a season if you dont clean it religiously
IceMike
15-07-2009, 03:50 PM

The Club will sell only tyres and inserts at the track side (Schumacher).
Shops must take authorization for selling at the track side, paddock, boxes... Today, nobody has requested it yet.
There are special and cheap prices for that authorization... do you know someone interested?

I'm pretty sure this won't effect anyone from the UK, but just so everyone is aware. This notice is from the EFRA web-site.
"Important additional notice regarding the EC Tyres for the incoming off road electric EC in Bilbao, Spain:
With this notice we try to clarify as much as possible which is the choosen –and “legal”- tyre from Schumacher to be used in Bilbao
EC TYRES:
We have chosen Schumacher MiniSpike 2 as the nominated tyre for the driven axles in both Classes. Schumacher have contacted us with part #'s for the different compounds.
The 2 version is produced from a new mould tool and Schumacher have confirmed that only tyres using Yellow, Green and Blue compound will be made form this mould.
The original mould tool has produced tyres for many years with many different compounds being used. It is very possible that some drivers have some of these older compounds in their possession which might give an advantage on our track in Bilbao. (For example: Bibex compound that could give a competitive advantage on the Bilbao track).
Only the 2 version is allowed for:
- Controlled Practice, Qualifying and Finals.
It is easy to identify tyres from the two mould tools as the later mould tool shows the "2" on the side-wall of the tyre.
Javier Llobregat
EFRA Rep, AECAR"
Lee, are you taking Stam-mag as your pit bitch?
No his cage wont get through airport security
only tyres using Yellow, Green and Blue compound will be made form this mould.
Does this include prototypes

does controlled practice refer to the 2 rounds of timed practice ? Im hoping so as I have some used 1's that I wanted to run in the other practices
Yeah the timed ones are controlled. That is when you have to do your 2 or 3 quick consecutive laps to sort out your grid order for qualifying ;)

(Much better than Japan, when I was waiting for it.)
Now just have to get myself there.
Any one have directions from the airport to the track or the HOTEL BARCELÓ AVENIDA.
Cheers
MiCk B. :-)
is there going to be a website with a live timing feed?

Looks a lovely track, just hope you don't have eye sight problems... Man that left side is far away...
Oh and i'm not being horrible/criticising in anyway.
Morning everyone. Practice is underway. The track is very hard to drive at the moment. The astro is super slippy on Schumachers. The hill is pretty much a hill climb contest LOL.:( will report back later

That timing feed int doing too well either.
indeed the overalls don't seem to be showing people with PTs and people with PTs don't seem to have their name attached to it...
Or anything else than heat practice 5 results lol
Yeah the track is still wet G and isn't drying that quickly.
Track is starting to dry up now. Most people are moving to yellows now.
is the results up online, live feed and what not?

Monday & Thursday is free practice, yuo dont have to use your race car, nor your race batteries nor your transponder. It is free and it is not timed, the timing done has been only to check out lapcounting system and it worked well.
Main trak difficulties are the 4-some (either 3+1 or 2+2) and the uphil down-hill with much more difficulty down-hill. anyhow there is not much areas on the track to relax. most of breaking parts are produced at the two spots pointed out.
By the way, in regards to Pre-race road trip: At France you dont have to TIP, never, service is included on the bill at a 27 % rate so you have already tipped everytime you pay. (please do take notice that this is only at France, at Spain tips are welcome and recommended if your intention is to repeat the place...)
All was going well till a while ago we stopped getting updates.
Beeeen how did practice go and who was fast (apart from lee martin of course) ?

This has to be perfect for a caption competition......
I'll start with.....
EFRA man - Hupo, did you do that?
Hupo - Me.. No
Lee - (thinks) Jezzz, that's rotten.
Neil - (thinks) Might just get away with that one
I think he was just telling Hupo he had to do 1000 lines,
'I will not be late again'
'I will not be late again'
and so on.

To be honest, time, money, annual leave days. I also didn't fancy the track from the pics I first saw but regret that now as I think it looks ace now.
Belgium OR euros and Belgium is SOOOOOOO good ;)

Belgium is a blinding week away
Please, can you drive slower by the finish line? I only hear a "beep" in my earphones and see car number, but not your body paint jobs... :p
My brain wants to explode. Now I want to sleep, but "beeps" repeats in my mind. I drunk some whisky, but it doesn't solve my problem.
Anyway, thank you for been here. I am learning much english from you.
Is there any single ladies at the track? Russian ones perhaps? Please take it to race control... I have to check their "frequencies" and "transponder number".
