1991, J reg, Graphite Grey, 5 door, 165k, taxed till October. Mot failure. interior in good condition, used obviously but no marks, tears or burns etc. Engine has a new head gasket, plugs, new belts all round, valves lapped in, new dizzy cap and rotor arm, water pump. M3 rear light clusters, OE VW rubber mats.

Failed on the odd bulb but also requires a new front subframe (due to corrosion) and needs some welding doing (due to corrosion). All underneath though, bodyshell is sound, apart from a dent in passenger side "C" pillar which was caused by brain dead yoofs and half a can of stella no doubt.:thumbdown:

Also has 2 new tyres on the front, BBS 14" wheels also.

Pictures upon request.

I love this car, but I spent too much time and money doing the head gasket etc, Only to find it needs welding. This is the 1st time it has ever required welding for an mot (which is why it's got to go, I'm sticking to my word) Those who know me know that I love my Golfs, and would like it to go to a good home.

Would suit a vdub fan rather than some spotty oik who's just passed their test and wishes to adorn it with halfords special ali wheels.

Spares or repair :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

£250.

Alas, no more RC racing for me till I get another car, as this leaves me car-less.

P.S. Cannot post, sorry

Yeah you'd get insured.... but maybe for about £3k? Golf GTi's are still unfortunately one of those Alarm bell ringing names when it comes to Insurance - think it's due to being the "original" GTI brand that all the kids went out and killed themselves in :lol:

Update

Here is the failure sheet in full, amateur wrenchers out there will be able to tell whats serious and what aint, you know what mots are like.

Reg plate light not working (i get this every year, usually the bulb)

Nearside front position lamp not in working order (does he mean indicator?)

Nearside rear silencer has a mounting which does not fully support the exhaust system.

Offside front (within 30cm) subframe mounting prescribed area is corroded

Nearside front lower suspension arm attachment bracket is corroded

Offside front lower subframe mounting prescribed area is corroded.

Offside rear brake pipe is corroded (scotchbrite usually sorts out, only copper pipe)

Nearside front lower subframe mounting is corroded.

Nearside lower subframe corroded and weakened

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

There you go, what makes me wonder is that none of this appeared as advisories last year (still have tickets to show), and it's from the same garage. I dont see how all that can rust away so quick in just one year, unless it had an Alfa Romeo, Rover or Leyland badge on the front ;)

I had a mk2 golf gti for my 1st car when I was 19 and the insurance set me back £1500 and that was with a cat2 imob and I lived in the lowest risk area.

If anyone on here has contact details for Crazy L, can you ask him to check his P.M's? I'm willing to collect this car tonight.
