Hi
Just need some advice really on my rear diff
I`ve fitted heavy joints (TRF/3racing version) and some ceramic ball bearings there should be 12 fitted but there is space for 3 extra around the inner section of the diff pulley, so i`ve fitted them so in total 15.
It all seems ok just wondering if theres a potential for problems can`t see any but why aren`t they there from standard then? manual says 12 around the outer edge but space for 15 diagram below

These other 3 are mounting holes for screwing onto the one way which is a popular upgrade to replace the front diff. so they mould them all the same, save on tooling costs.
I should imagine that filling these holes with balls may have an adverse effect since they may not be in contact with the thrust washer.
Remove them to be sure.

I tried using them in my diff once, if just felt "weird" so I took them out again. I'm sure someone will tell us why soon...
it is because they take a greater loading, so the pressure is then less evenly distributed across the diff plates. This is why they try to make the diff plates as wide as possible, and the balls as far out as poss. This allows for a smoother action, and less force needed to gain a non-slipping action.

i have been racing my DB-01 for a few weeks in mod now and every two or three heats i check the kit diffs, have had to tighten them up a few times as they seat in, but all this time i have been running a LRP x12 7.5 with no problems. and no melted diffs!
so just trying to get the word out for owners of this great chassis to keep a check on them so they dont melt, as if i had not tightened them up they would have gone by now.
they way i set them is like a AE diff, tighten the diff screw in the car till it stops then back it off about 1/4 turn for the front and 1/2 for the rear. hope this helps.
I managed to nurse the rear diff, also, till I lent the car to a certain Mr Mills, who blew it to bits!! lol
