I needed to have trained Lee up more so he could resize the pics - he has about 200 so far taken by himself, roundy and cragg. taking ages to upload for him tho so i only have a couple!
oh well... There will be loads of photos when the guys get back for sure - so keep checking back! :D

We were fortunate enough to video Masami's laps. Hope to have it up in a week or so. Can't do anything with it until we get home -- got to burn it to a CD then mail it to Lia.

I don't remember what lee said, but it was something like 35+ heats !!!!!!!! so if you only do 1 class, you are racing 2 times a day I think. so basically its on over the next few days, not sure when it finishes tho.

15-03-2007, 04:25 PM
I saw Lee before he left, and i think he said the racing is over 3 days, Friday - Sunday.

The weird thing is that you race 2wd, then not long after your 4wd heat comes round so it's almost like a giant club meeting lol, quite weird to race 2wd then 4wd, then Truck (if you're doing it), then 2wd again etc - you'll need to be able to adapt really quickly i guess?

In some countries, Nats are like that! You run 2wd then 4wd and then Truck, if you compete in those three classes. Guest French Nats are so but not sure!

Anyway, that's not the really point here!

Masami, the legend... not called the legend for his shell painting skills huh :D

Lee's doing well with the photos huh, you sure he's taking them? I wanna see his car in action, someone else hold the camera for a bit!

BX's leading the way I hope?

jimmy
15-03-2007, 07:25 PM
its hard for him to send photos (takes ages) so i'll put loads up after the guys get back. But I asked him to get lots of car shots (up close) of the various cars there.

Thanks Ashley,
I have edited the quote out of your post simply because the results take up so much space and makes the forum threads more difficult to read. But thanks for your comments, it's nice to know that the information is helpful to people and hopefully over the coming months there will be much more to come :)

Mrs oOple

I believe Hupo is running the tamiya and he has qualified 7th in 4wd.

Not sure how many other Tamiyas are out there.

As far as 4wd there seemed to be some very competitive racing, and although the boys were getting some quick laps in I think they had technical difficulties also? I'm pretty sure there were some breakages.

Wishing them all lots of luck in the finals anyway.

:o wow, bad day at the office, that's a bit of a shocker... welcome to my world huh 'bottom finals', lots of bad luck was it?!

Sure neil will let us know what happened, but I think if he had driven at 90% he would have made the A. To get pole at a track like that you had to 'do the quad' and we don't generally have jumps like that over here. That jump sounded like it was the reason for many breaks.

Isn't that Suzuki guy not driving for Tamiya ?

I'm also curious what the Kyosho's did, especially the 2WD. I saw Kyosho's Mark Pavidis on the entry list. I guess he would have ran a ZX5 and the new RB5.

I could be wrong, but as far as I remember from watching the finals last night Pavidis finished last in the D final with his RB5.

Now - if this was a nitro car, there would already be a bunch of storys floating around, and an interview with pavidis, giving 'his side' of why he didn't TQ and win with the new car.
As it is, I think people can understand a lot of top racers had breaks on that track.

Given my experience with the ZX5 last season, My guess would be that the Lazer/Ultima would be the first car to break :D !

The quad, the quad, the quad. It killed everybody, especially you Brits.

Frankly, it was very poorly constructed, with too much lip on take-off launching cars far too high in the air -- 8 - 10 feet up -- and an almost flat landing zone so there was no way to set it down EZ.

If you landed nose first you broke off some part of the front end. Tail first would cost a rear wishbone at least. If a gust of wind blew you left, you'd land on the vertical plywood forming the side of the jump. To the right, you landed on the concrete block retaining wall.

Most peeps DNFed several qualifiers, and the result was really good drivers scattered throughout the lower mains.

But you really must learn to fly...

From the pics it looks like it was designed to be a Double, Double - not really a Quad......

It's a shame if it turned it into a bit of a lottery?

I think the boys have been far too busy in vegas to think about sending us photos! Also the upload rate was really slow so I don't think there was enough time in between racing and taking photos of ladies.
Looking forward to seeing a photo diary of their holiday anyway

At home, my PC can handle like 20 - 30 then photos hop eats memory.
