View Full Version : Which 4WD?

I have a bit of a dilemma:

I normally race 1/8 Rallycross, but, after the last winter series, I won't be racing outdoors in the winter again. So I'm moving to **Indoor:woot:** 1/10 4WD off road (at least for winter seasons). Surface is polished wood and the fastest motors allowed are 13.5T.

So: out of all the different 4WD cars out there, which would you pick and why? Proper reasoning please!

I don't really have a budget, but it is a concern (i.e no real limit, but value for money is important).

I tend to prefer shaft drive due to my Rallycross experience.

I'm not so keen on imperial screws/fixings.

With the last two though, I'm sure I could 'learn' to like them!

Also, whilst I'm not too bad at driving, I'm not amazing and accidents do happen, so spares availability is also a draw for me.

Thanks, and get typing!

Associated B44 Good second hand one's around spares are good. Or the yokomo b- max4. Easy to drive parts easy to get.

Schumacher CAT SX. All metric, belt drive but well designed, and why not support a home grown manufacturer?

I have just ordered a CAT Sx S1 Edition:D. Couldn't quite justify the Phil Booth Edition price tag.

Good choice for Faversham :D

There are quite a few people which run an sx round there.

Good for set up tips and to borrow spares if you break something.

In the end I got swung by local popularity. And the fact that at Modelworld we keep most of the spares too. I look forward to racing there!
