This link was posted a while back by someone showing a load of really good ideas for the XPro / Madrat:

Not sure where you'll be able to buy the parts though as it doesn't look like Ansmann will be bringing them in now

I really hoped Ansmann would bring all the upgrades for the mad rat although i have to say im not surprised if they dont, as its exactly what they did to the hurrax 1/5, they only seem interested in moving boxes rather than supporting a product fully.
They moan when you buy from h/kong to get the kit for half price then they seem happy for you to go and get the upgrades from there:confused:

Ansmann WILL be bringing in ALL the hop-ups soon. We do support our cars and dont just "shift boxes".

We will be doing the complete range of hop-ups as listed on the team C website and many more. Keep your eyes peeled.

team C make the madrat, Ansmann just rebrand it in Europe. Team C sell all the spares and hop ups very cheaply, but they don't have a beefed up T-piece.

did you not read my post above? Team C MAKE the madrat and all the spares, and all the hop-ups. In Europe they are sold under the Ansmann name, but Ansmann don't yet have the hop-ups in stock, hence why people are buying direct from Team C in Asia.

They defiantly are stronger , i have had no breakages with my Xpro as of yet , where as my mad rat broke every time i used it (including the t-piece) and those plastic shocks are truly terrible unless your on completely flat ground

The mad rat is a great car though, especially if you put the shocks and turnbuckles off the xpro onto it, I am sure it would improve it vastly

As for those Team C hop ups i am very interested in getting some myself , Could the guy who has got some of the parts take some pictures when he has them installed as i would like to see how they fit and look on the car

Thanks ! :)

By the way how much does that brass battery tray weigh

budgio
18-08-2009, 07:23 PM
The brass battery tray weighs approx 120g

jim76
18-08-2009, 07:43 PM
bloody hope not! mine arrived today also. If it was 615g it would be heavier than original NiMH cells!
i don;t have any decent accurate scales, but i imagine it's a typo and it;s actually 61.5g

The alloy bulkhead is nicely made, but would have prefered all brass for the weight. Will have to wait and see how good the alloy is once it;s been run a few times. But for £2.50 it can be made of cheese for all i care!
The B4 rear driveshafts also look really good, with all the washers etc needed.

Took 4 working days from time of order. Great service. Even sent the bits in 2 packages to keep them under the limit for duty.

I was thinking about buying the battery bar and the front arm mount if there cheap. if they dont fit then maybe attack it with a dremmel.

jim76
18-08-2009, 09:09 PM
the brass tray is US$11
driveshafts were US$9
Bulkhead was US$4.10

springs were peanuts, about $1.50 per pair i think.
I got the top 3, some front wishbones, rear shock tower, and 3 sets of front and rear rims. Came to £35 inclusive, and that was including 2 lots of shipping to ensure each package was under the customs limit.
The wheels alone are £27 plus postage in the UK.

it only costs £2.50 so not a big gamble. You would probably have to ream out the holes as the kit is metric unlike B4 pins

SuperSparkSteve

jim76
19-08-2009, 10:07 PM
Ryan is the only one currently making the carbon parts in the UK. You'll just have to wait until he makes a second batch.
The X-pro t-piece will break just like the madrat one because THEY ARE THE SAME PART.

as previously stated, drive slower and more carefully until you master things. And don't go for silly huge jumps while bashing. No car will stand up to bad landings at speed.

Seriously what are you trying to say? I read that as "My mate snapped one that Ryan made, just a little stone snappped it"

Is that what you mean as i find it hard to believe you snapped a Carbon one easily.

Jamie.T
20-08-2009, 09:25 AM
My mate snapped a carbon one too. The rear section where it has been machined down very thin is extremely weak. One little knock to the rear and the rear lower arm pin holder gets torn off, taking the thin carbon with it.

Im currently trying to re-deign a T plate that is stronger at the back. Will hopefully be in a few weeks.

DCM
20-08-2009, 09:35 AM
Jamie, get me one, that you design, and I will tell you if it will snap. I ran the Ryan T-Piece on Sunday, and I did some decent destructive testing on it..... If you don't re-seal the edges and areas of machining, they will be weak spots.

Right now, I need to get some serious weight into my car.

Jamie.T
20-08-2009, 09:39 AM
No problem Steve. Will let you know when theyre done.

p.s, if you want some more weight in your car, i can sit on it if you want.
