I think this comes under general racing chat. I am thinking of doing some regionals next year. Either South East or South with my D4 and maybe a losi xx. I have looked around, even on the BRCA website, but am struggling with a few things.
Is there a list of legal batteries, motors & esc's
Does my car need to be a certain weight?
Do i need a transponder?
Any other hints and tips?
I suspect the answers are listed somewhere, just can't find it!
Thanks in advance
Dave

There is a list in the EB section.

on the brca website under the offroad section is a heading called race info. under there is a full list of rules.
car weight for 4wd is 1588g. transponders are usually provided by the club, but you can buy a personal one if you have the money.
also on the brca website is a section called the electric board. under this is the homologation lists for motors and lipos etc.
best bet is get down to one of the regional clubs over the winter and ask around, the locals will give you all the advice you need. I can highly recommend the Eden park winter series!

Hi Jim
Thanks for that, i shall have a good read.
Could be tempted to pop down for that, how many races are in the winter series?
Just had a look at the list of Batteries and i have some that are on the 2009 list, but most of mine are in the 2007 list. Could i still use them?

they will be ok for the winter series, but for official brca events such as regionals then they must be on the current list. Are you talking about IB4200?
there are usually about 5 rounds in the winter series and it attracts many top drivers such as Ellis Stafford and Grant Williams. You would learn a great deal in preparation for the regionals!
and next year you/we will be on next years list, late January I expect

They a IB 3800's.
Sounds like it could be a good idea then :), especially if it doesn't matter which batteries i have. Just had a read on the EPR website and looks like there will be 2wd and 4wd on the same day in seperate races which is good.
Had a read of teh BRCA site again with your directions and had much better luck, thanks for the help

no worries.
EPR are a very friendly bunch and the track is one of the best in the country. You can race both classes provided you have enough cells and chargers etc.
I'm not sure if the 3800's will be allowed. usually any legal cells on one list are automatically legal the following years also. But due to the safety concerns with the 4200's they started a fresh list and scrapped the previous legal list.
Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge on the legal sides of it can tell you if they are ok for regionals or not.
your best bet may be to try and pick up a couple of cheap packs of lipos, or second hand. you only need 2 packs as opposed to 4-5 NiMH packs.

I will keep an eye out, although the old losi xxcr doesn't seem to run too well with lipo at our track for some reason!

Come and see me about that :) had a few things done recently and Steve ran my LIPOs last weekend (The car is now the same weight as a NIMH car but with brushless and Trakpower 3600 LIPOs. That's why I wish I had run it last weekend.
Buddy Seve and I will be up for EPR given enough notice. Losi XXCR and Cat SX :)
Between the three of us we'll have transponders, enough batteries and charging kit etc. If it's over two days I'd probably get a hotel

Nice one mate
They are doing a winter series of 6 races, one a month. Thought it would be a good place to get an idea what a regional is like.

yeah, the people that race there are pretty much the regular regional crowd anyway, and they race to the same format

Not long, tempted to say 4th October as the weather may still be ok at that point. Just have to check when I'm back from holiday around then.
