I asked rich lowe - and he's either super sly or just out of the loop! I hear rumors of new BJ4 parts, so spill the beans andy! :)
There are some new parts, but they were only necessary due to the extreme stress Tebo, Maifield and Ryan C put on the cars. So they go into the prototype only bin. :(
[OldTimer] -Hauler bags might be part of that, haha. There might be some more surprises as well. ;)
[gramey] -Im sure they will be, the week after we release the line. :D

What is the new slipper / slipper parts? I guess they are out now - but what are they and what do they do?
I know from my own experience the slipper is a nob to set - Tom Cockerill set mine at the Euros last year and it's not been adjusted since.
I need a new slipper unit for my WE, i cant seem to find anywhere in the UK that stocks the WE parts and it is a bit of a pain ordering parts from the US if you need bits in a hurry.
Richard Lowe
29-03-2007, 01:33 PM
At the moment you can either order parts from Dom at DC Racing (not sure what he has in stock though) or order from Jason in the US direct.
The new slipper part is the steel T nut. With the old plastic one with a nut in if your slipper came loose and the plastic heated up it became really inconsistent to set, the steel T nut stops this.
jimmy
29-03-2007, 01:38 PM
Thats the puppy - at the Euros it was slipping too much. I think now it might be too tight but at least the car moves! :D

Its an optional part. If adjusted correctly and lock-tited properly the first time, the plastic t-nut with metal insert works fine. The metal t-nut just allows for more adjustment possibilities.

DAN: I knew leaving the S4 on your table all night would sway you LOL
If you pop up the club before you run it we'll get the clutch set up right for you, it's REALLY important to get it set just so.
ANDY/RICH: What is the recomended setting for a plastic nut? I run the metal nut in mine backed off just under 1 turn.
Richard Lowe
04-04-2007, 07:47 PM
It's exactly the same as far as adjusting it goes. I like to set mine a bit loose for a run or two with new slipper pads/plates (remembering to threadlock it ;) ) while they bed in. Then I remove the screw and nut; re-threadlock and re-adjust. I normally hold the spur and insert an allen driver into the slipper outdrives and set it by feel, it usually works out to be about one turn out.
Don't forget to squeze the spring a few times before you assemble it for the first time :)

08-04-2007, 07:44 PM
This is the way i did it, a quick diagram:
http://paulrotheram.doughtyuk.net/misc/wirelength.jpg
put connectors together on opposite side, then from the left to the right solder the wire on.. when you turn the cells back around the wire should be a perfect length for the BJ4.
This is the way i've done mine, and have worked great.

Yes, the extended rear ball cups require:
BJ4 - 1.33" turnbuckle
RC10B4 - 1.33" turnbuckle
RC10T4 - 1.775" turnbuckle
I believe that the 1.33" length is from the TC3, if you have an old one laying around.

I'll put it on the list, want to give any input? The Schumacher mini pin, and mini spike are the hot tires, right? Is that because of their design, or their status as a spec tire of sorts? Im a little ignorant of how things work over there, so information is appreciated!
Chris Doughty
23-05-2007, 06:31 AM
the spike 'shape' of the schumacher mini-spike is superb, personally, I don't like their round tire body though.
their yellow compound is pretty dialled on most of our kind of tracks.
they are the spec tire because they work so well, if there was no tire rule, on a 'normal' dry day everyone would be on them anyway.

you could say that....
but if you were to produce a tire in a single compound only that 'worked' on our tracks then you might be #1 candidate for the controlled tire business in the UK.
start any 'tire rule' debate on an english forum and you will get PLENTY of opinions and ideas, none of which work because its hard to 'police' the compound, spike pattern is easy to recognise.
also, the shape of the schumacher tire is not great imho. the 'ballistic buggy' tire carcas is much better, Proline and Losi are also better too but might not be as suited to our tracks.
do a search, there might be a few old tire debates on this or my forum.
MK999
25-05-2007, 09:06 AM
is there any reason that we run round profile tyres as opposed to square profile? round tyres were pretty much a no no on 8ths, there was no point unless the track was so rutty and bumpy that going sideways on square tyres just made them dig in and roll. But possibly tenths are more prone to grip rolling? If there isn't a reason, theres your miraculous discovery Andy :p (I'll take 20% of all your sales mmkay? :D)
Andy Moore

Looks as though the "Rounder" is a bit like a Pre-Scrubbed rib.
Both styles are great value, at $12.50 including insert. :)
Andy, how do they compare in width and compound to Pro-Line/Losi ribs??

I hate to keep doing this, but its and inevitable comparison...The groovy is similar to the 8175 LP 4-Rib, and the Rounder is similar to the Pre Scrub 2-rib from Losi. There are changes we felt necessary to each though. More styles in the coming month/s!

They are similar, but as stated above, we instituted some necessary tweeks.

I just wanted to let you guys know that we've extended and updated our tool range. We are now offering nut drivers in both standard and metric, in addition to the hex drivers we offered previously. The hex driver handles have been lightened and the set screws have been enlarged to cope with the extra torque that some situations exert on them. We have also added a screwdriver/pic set to complete the line of tools. There are a few pics below:
