Xray T2'009: Severe Wheel Chatter or Shaking when Turning, sounds very rough.

I haven't even tried the car on the ground yet, just on stand.

I get severe wheel chatter when combining some throttle and turning, it gets worse the further I turn and the more the throttle.

This only happens with front wheels on.

The wheels do not seem to be touching anywhere, even though they will touch with no shim, I'm using a 1mm steel washer, but the nut is tight, so no movement.

I've tried it with the front wheels off and no chatter, no noise just smooth operation.

I've tried shimming the wheels even more than 1mm, tried 2mm, 3mm still the same.

It's normal I believe...put the car on the track and you won't notice it.....;)

The car probably also has a spool in it which increases chatter. Normal.

oh, OK, thanks.

Sounds damn awful though, wasn't expecting it as only had Off Roaders before.

I ordered a Ball Diff for the front on advice form club....... so this will reduce chatter.

Sounds like the motor is trying to drill through masonary.

I notice from your other thread that you are using the Schumacher wheels. I'd suggest swapping them for the JC wheels distributed by CML. They are a different design that won't catch on the suspension arm, so you can take the spacers off.

not allowed to, club has control wheels, tyres & inserts:

Schumacher 20mm Mini Pins, Schumacher 20mm 5 spoke Wheels & Schumacher Blue Hard Inserts.

You might need to take a dremel to it if it catches.

Have you tried the hudy black/grey in the cups and drive shafts joints
I had the same problem
Just greased them and they work perfect
Make sure you clean them out and grease them well :p

Hope this helps
Cheers

for the mini pins, you'll need to space out the wheels from the axles by about 1mm each corner, otherwise they'll catch.

Hi, I already have, the issue was the chatter not the wheel size. I'm already using the shim.

As I'm told it's normal and migh go aweay after using the front diff :woot:
