The reason 1/8 scale moved to big bore was for consistency over long finals, as the oil would heat up and become thinner, changing the damping characteristics. Big bore means more oil, so it takes longer to heat up.
I'm not sure if there's any advantage in 1/10 scale, as you only race for 5 minutes anyway, which was never long enough for the oil to overheat, and the cars are comparitively lighter, and you have far smoother tracks.

I think that comment just save me about $130-$140USD as i was seriously thinking about getting them after finding them online the other day. Just hit a stumbling block which stopped me buying them straight up was i couldn't find any spring sets to suit anywhere and they not listed on the yokomo site either.

RC CHAMP have the Big Bore Shocks in stock with discounted price for those who's interested.....
Yokomo BM-1S12 Front X shock set Discounted price 4680Yen
Yokomo BM-1L12 Rear X shock set Discounted price 4860Yen
Are these new shocks compatible with the MR-4 BX World Spec or do they make separate big bores for the BX too?

Don't know but think they are compatible, since b-max can use bx shocks!
Thanks. I'm in the process of placing an order. Hopefully should be ok but we'll see.

I just order it to Rc champs last Week.
Tell you here if it seems crazy or not;)
But even if the Marvin opinion is a quite good sense (!!!!), I bought it for the crazy look it give to the buggy...
The real question is: do they fit to the B44!!???:D:D

Big Bores from Yokomo are a "must have":woot:. I install them on my B-Max 4 3 weeks ago. I did a race on Astro and a french national on dirt. the car is so well with those big bore. The damping is really perfect! the ideal pack!
they are really easy to fill-in despite the disappearance of the little screw on the shocks.
Have fun with its:thumbsup:
