Mugen MST-1 Electric

I made this out of Mugen MST-1 Parts. It will eventually have an Associated T4 transmission. It will also require a new rear arm mount to accomodate the T4 transmission. I was looking into the aluminum rear arm mount for the BJ4. Can any one give the measurements of the distance between the outermost screw holes?

There is a 3/4 of an inch on each side of the chassis to mount a quantum esc and a receiver. They will have to be mounted sideways standing up but it will work. Also, I plan to install a chassis protector made of lexan to protect the underside. I am currently bidding on the t4 transmission on ebay. Hopefully I'll win it and it will be the final piece to it. I'll have better pics this weekend. My only set back will be mounting the transmission since I already drilled holes too far appart on the chassis for a losi transmission. Was the arm mount too big for the Losi tranny? If you can't get a T4 tranny you know that the X-Cell tranny is very similar to them. The internals are atleast.

No, the arm mount was ok and I had mounted the losi transmission from under the chassis via two screws however, mounting the front of the losi transmission would have required some serious engineering since it only has a horrizontal hole where on a losi vehicle it would have a screw go through the tower, tranny, and finally motor plate. I have just bought an T4 transmission case and it seems to work perfect. It will bolt down via the two screws from under the chassis, which I have to create since they are different from what I have drilled on the chassis already. Also, it will require spacers to elevate and level the tranny to sit on the chassis. The the front side of the transmission will bolt down easily via a carbon fibre brace since its go two holes facing down. This can be accomplished with aluminum posts if not a caron fiber brace. The motor guard will have to be attached from under the chassis with two screws, which will also go through the chassis and into the transmission. The motor guard is counter sunk so it wont be too bad having extra material under the chassis to scrape the ground. It will also serve as a hold down for the lexan undertray I will create. It will also project the end edge of the chassis from scraping. In the end, the only parts I will need will be a small brace to mount the tranny. Once I design myself and make the piece, I will order spares from Fybrle Lyte in the UK with even more precise dimensions. Overall, I am satisfied that I did not have to modify the rear arm mount on the MST-1 or any other plastic components. This means that I can order spares and mount them on whenever something breaks without modifications. The only unique one of a kind pieces are the chassis, upper deck, rear small deck that holds the front of the tower and a small brace to hold down the front of the transmission. These items I will order from Fyblre Lyte as final products for no more than 70 pounds in the future. Everything else will bolt right on. I'll post pics of this by the end of the weekend. Oh, the t4 transmissino will be about 4 milimiters higher than what it usualy sits on a T4 chassis. This is in order to clear the MST-1 rear arm mount, but it is not too much difference.

The Chassis is made by Fybre lyte of the UK, I simply asked them to modify it. I asked them to not make the transmission hole nor the holes to mount the engine, or the flywheel hole. I made most of the countersunk holes myself.

I have now driving experience of trucks, but hey, this looks like it just came outta a factory. Superb. I hope it goes as well as it looks. if it does, it will take some catching.
Just goes to show you what a bit of imagination and a fair bit of tallent can do.

Thanks, I'll install electronics today. I was going to go brushless. but I've opted for a nice Futaba MC800C, and a chekpoint motor. Also, spektrum dx2 for the radio and a ko propo 2343 servo.

I changed the rear suspension mounts. I am now using the Ultima RB5 Rear arm carriers and losi xxxcr rear hubs. Also, the RB5's rear motor guard. I had to modify a piece of an Associated T4 motor guard to fit the RB5's motor guard on my T4 transmisson. It worked out just great. Now, I am getting rid of my electronics to make way for a brushless system. The Tekin R1 is my choice. It is the smallest Car brushless ESC that I have seen.
