There seems to be lots of advice here as to which would be the good choices for racing - How about if I'm not racing, just using it in the park, on the beach and in the road?
Which 4WD 1/10 scale buggy would be the best choice for good value and durability and fun. Thanks

Truth be told for bashing purposes you will see little real benefit from 4wd. You are most unlike to find that a 2wd gets stuck in anyway a 4wd wouldn't. Which means that a cheaper, simpler 2wd is a much better option.

I've already got a 2wd B4 (second hand a couple of months ago). It's really great, but I get the impression its quite weak compared to my other cars. Ideally would like a 4wd next...Although out of interest, which 2wd is also really durable and good for bashing.... e firestorm?

Well tbh in the racing world we consider B4's pretty tough! They need an alloy front hingepin brace, but after that breakages are rare.

Certainly its at least as robust as most of the 4wds are.

Have you considered the SC10. Its basically a stretched and widened B4 with an all enclosing shell. The shell will provide extra protection, so its plenty tough and it would looks awesome on a beach - though I would advise an underbody if you don't want to dig sand out of your esc! Or the similar Traxxas Slash, which isn't quite as good but is a bit stonger and already has enclosed electrics.

If you are really sure you want 4wd then the Tamiya Durga / Baldre or the HPI Cyber 10B would be good choices. Both are based on full spec racing models (501X/511X and D4 WCE respectively but cheap and tough.

Thanks for the advice so far. The only reason that I thought my B4 was a bit weak was that when it flips over, one of the rear ball joints keeps popping off, which is not a big deal.

Get a Traxxas Slash - they are stronger than all 1/10th buggies by a mile..

Swap the standard powerr system to whatever else (if you need more power)

Parts are cheap - tons of info on the net (mainly american sites)

Cant go wrong really
