hi.
i was looking at buying a new 4wd buggy. i dont have much money and have found these particular cars which are the x factory x5 or the BJ4 original version [not the worlds]. i was wondering which you guys thought would be the best car to buy for around the same price. and if you have reasons write them below.
if it helps i currently run an xfactory x6 which shares parts with the bj4 but shares names with the x5.
thanks alot
simple for me this one: a non worlds BJ4 is not the best - it has been superseaded by the worlds, where as the X5 is the best that XFactory produce so thats the one to go for.
Or another way of looking at it - how many xx4 non worlds editions (or even BJ4 non worlds) do you see racing at a reasonable level? Don't think I've ever seen any...

hi col, the reason why i was stil thinking about it was... it might be slightly cheaper and the BJ4 has more titles eg. 2005 IFMA world champion and 2004 ROAR national champion where as the x5 only has 2005 national champion so they are both very competitive cars. i must agree though the x5 was the prefered option.
thanks very much guys.
But were those titlies with the non worlds spec cars?

2005 IFMAR World Champion and 2004 ROAR National Champion, the JConcepts BJ4 quickly became the fastest 4-wheel drive RC car to hit the track, ready to take on the competition.
thats taken off the BJ4 section of the website
Racing History includes:
Tumbleweed 2006, TQ and Winner, Scott Spear
EFRA Off-Road Championship 2006, Euros, Winner, Peter Pinisch
ROAR Modified Off-Road Nationals 2006, Winner, Jared Tebo
Hot Rod Shootout, TQ and Winner, Ryan Cavalieri
Nordic Championship, 2006, Ketil Pettersen
2005 Stock Nats, TQ and winner, Steven Hartson
2005 Austrian Nationals, Peter Pinisch
is taken off the world edition section so im guessing the standard car won the worlds ??

No the WE won the worlds with the new layout of saddle pack cells, hence the name.
The BJ4 WE didn't become available to buy for several months after that and there was still a waiting list for the stock BJ4 while the pre-order list started to fill up for the WE edition.

Theres a good supply of bj4 worlds running in the UK, and they are VERY popular over in the states. I've tried both, and i love my bj4 worlds.. it feels as though it is always on rails, i had a few issues with it indoors, due to lack of practise on the obsticles i was on - later finding out i was on 2wd due to stripped front hexes!!
Outdoors it is a very good car however, very easy to drive fast, stable and consistant.
My x-5 was nice, i enjoyed racing with it, it was really easy to race but the downside for me was the price of spares for it.. £15 for a shock tower, £15 for wishbones.. all abit shocking really.
The bj4 is competitive with abit of initial tweeking to suit our tracks, spares are cheap enough (nearly half the price of losi !!) and it is a very efficient car with its shaft drivetrain, and sealed differentials. It also looks like CML have taken interest in the car for 2007 with some of their drivers running the cars again.

Forgot to add.. look out for my BJ4 correspondence on this website in the future where i'll be giving the car a further run down with interviews tips and progress reports.

The origonal BJ4 is still a very good car, almost as fast as the Worlds but a little bit harder to drive than the new car.

I actually loved the way the original car worked, it was very point and shoot. Hard on the brakes into the corners and full wood leaving them always worked for me, but it torched the diffs, haha. I would definately reccomend the BJ because I know how well we support the car still and how quickly we get parts out. ;)

Go for the X5, for a start your cells will fit straight in.
In the UK you will have a host of people to ask set up help from and even if non of us are around XX4 drivers can help, although the car is better than a xx4, much more balanced and handles high grip better.
Also have you ever seen a BJ4 win anything over here?? Very good on dirt but they struggle on high grip i.e our tracks!!!

What has the X5 won over here since it was released? (Apart from a couple of weeks ago ;) )

I knew someone would bite, not digging at any one though.
Admittedly the X5 has not won too much so far other than the end of season finals, Batley supercup and the indoor finals now (although hopefully that will change this year) but as it is based around a xx4, only better, you can't argue against what the xx4 has won can you!!

xx4 still rules:D
If you want either of them yea the X5 will be better.

one thing i really want to know though, if the x5 is so good and so much better than the xx4, why dont any of the top drivers or all these people who own the xx4's convert to an x5??

Let's continue with that logic (what the car is based around, rather than the actual car). The BJ4 is basically a 4WD B4, and the B4 has won quite a few races. That would also make the BJ4 a three time World Champion instead of just one. That sounds pretty good.

2wd and 4wd is alot different. if you look at the bj4 and b4 next to each other, the only real similarity yoo will see is the shocks

I know. It was meant to be a joke, but I was trying to make a point at the same time. It's not fair to claim that a car has its own identity, and then try to take credit for another car's success because they share parts.
