I think its going to be really tight, but in 2wd I think Ben Cosgrove has a great shout (yeah, Ben Cosgrove as in, boring car racer)- running an AC S2, he runs on grass most saturdays, so I think he will have a say...

4WD, yeah I think Southwell and Wraggy look all set to battle it out, but then there is also Rob Fox representing the mid-west who could be a factor...

Either way, looks like being a great watch...

08-09-2009, 04:09 PM
Good shout Tom the Ben Cosgrove thing, but you have another possible dark horse for 2WD in one Chris Lake who was hot stuff back in the day!!!
My Mid East bet to do well is Paul Fox.

I'm really looking forward to this one despite not been able to race! After watching Mid-West racing this year and racing against him I would say Ben Cosgrove as well on the Saturday. Although Southwell is my favourite and I'll also tip Wraggy.

Tony Evdoka will be there or there abouts in 4wd, I've been in the same heat the last few meetings and he's very capable

Best tip of the weekend is Mike Elliot to make BOTH 'A' finals.... (and Jamie Banks too :wub)

Should be good, a few drinks and plenty of cheering coupled together with some MCJonesy style commentary (if Tony T is not there) and I can get MCYardy off the mic! (Unless we can get 2 mic's)

What are the chances of a 'guest' race at this one??

Thinking about more possibilities of winners all the time and Wayne Collinson will be there, dude just don't wear a dress for this one..... please!

The good thing with the end of seasons as well is there are so many ppl using other ppls gear so it's going to be so hard to call the right winner until the end of the meeting.

At least it's on the right surface for this, GRASS!!

Hi yah all

I will let you in to a little secret.
My son Richard Evdoka TQed and won the 2wd F3/4/5s back in I think year 2000 at Worcester. He then qualified 2nd and won the 4wd event the next day making him one of the first if not the first to do the double at the F3/4/5s championship.
He did of course have me and David Burton preparing his car and motors so I suppose he had an advantage in those days. Motors being skimmed every run and so on...!!
He is now bloody 25 and all I hear every day is that I have to do the same otherwise as he says 'I am less of a man than he is'
Jesus - no pressure eh!!!
Bloody kids, I was racing when he was still in my ball bag

Personally, would be happy to just be on the pace as it's only been 5 months since my 8 year break away from it all....

See yah all there

2000 F345's that was at Himley Hall in Dudley where it was amazing weather sat and it pissed it down sunday. Darren Wood Tq'ed and won 2wd from Stephen Boothroyd and Rob Reeves, Rob Reeves Tq'ed and won 4wd from Chris Bowater and Mike Penfold. Southwell also made a double 'A' that weekend. Knew I kept the Racer Mag for this kind of thread!

If I remember right James Pritchard was running Neil Craggs Predator in 4wd? Yeah I too keep dumping at about 4mins 30 called it a day after round 2.

Tony, I think it must be 2001. I believe for 2001 being the first time the track being sideways from the usual Worcester layout for a big meeting.

I think it's a 5 year absence Nick, then they are allowed again

The Rule Book is a wonderful thing - - - - -

11. THE INTER-REGIONAL F3/F4/F5 CHAMPIONSHIP

11.1
Eligibility for this event is restricted to drivers holding an F3, F4 or F5 licence on the scheduled date of

the event. (F1 and F2 licence holders are excluded).
Previous holders of F1 licences have to wait for five years before becoming eligible.
11.2

Each Region is allowed to enter a team of: the Top five F3, the Top five F4 and the Top five F5 drivers

in both 2WD and 4WD, as defined by their Regional Championship, in each class.
If any Region cannot provide the required number (5) of F3, F4 and F5 drivers in 2WD or 4WD, the Region
can elect to enter more of an individual grade up to the total of 15.
11.3

The I-R F3/4/5 Championship will have separate classes for 2WD and 4WD.
11.4 The I-R F3/4/5 Championship will be run to Modified and Brushless motor rules.

I'm sure it'll be checked, just thinking i'm either completely wrong or there are some people that may be turned away so just thought it was worth bringing up in case some people didn't know of the "new" rule?

I just thought some of the names would have been F1's in the last 4-5 years but maybe they didn't make it.

Hi Ben
I am not sure on gate opening - one assumes anytime if not listed
Format of qual and finals is nornally decided on the day - ie round by round (which is normal) or FTD - A final leg 1 normally first in the middle and last
Practice at EOY events seems to be 4 minute and only 1 in heat order or maybe 2 if they feel they have time to complete
Hope this helps you a little

PS - See Charlies reply below - he is the man that knows for sure - cheers

CharlieF

Practice will start with heat 1 at 0800 (on that basis gates will need to be open early), booking in starts at 0715.
We will aim for 2 practices (same as at a national series events) as unlike the BRC event there are not the same number of 3 leg "A" finals to accommodate.
There will be 4 qualifying rounds followed by finals except the "A Final" which will be over 3 legs, leg 1 at the start of the finals, leg 2 in the middle and leg 3 finshing the day.
Trophy award ceremony will follow A Final leg 3.
Regards.

lol sat night was a bit mad hearing and watching a certain drunks "rubbing it like custom blitz" moment just totally wrecked me.

awsome event put on by broxtowe so very well done to all involved in the prep and running of it, the usual good work by the brca on the day completed a good race weekend and we even had time for a guest race both days, enjoyed that a lot. nice to see so many f1's and 2's there helping the others or just to watch, really added to the atmosphere and also gave a wealth of knowledge on every car for people to ask about

lastly well done to tony and jamie, 4wd was set and DONE in 2 runs but 2wd was down to the wire, ive never seen 3 people all with a 1 and a 2 so all down to fastest time, showed a damned close days racing which it was, unlucky to wraggy on not converting pole into the win but well done to tony on sneaking the win, the old dog has still got it and it was a very popular win ;)

Yes he was running a Cat ! Think this was the first tim Jamie had run outdoors on grass with an electric buggy for nearly a decade ! He ran it at a worksop indoor meeting begining of the year I remember . Just goes to show that talent never fades " as long as the eye sight and arthritus dont kick in ! "

Yeah cheers for that Ben!!! It was ok though I managed to get my arm up just in time and only got a front wheel and partial wishbone to the face!

It was quite funny though and I was so tired after that final, it was carnage!! You did win it in the end didn't you?

Cracking weekend, it was great to have this event on my home turf, well done to all the Broxtowe lads, a good team effort and thanks to Paul, Stu, Charlie, John and co, the meeting ran like clock work, as they have done all year.

Big thanks to Tony, you made the meeting what it was for sure, top job on the mic.

Enjoyed both helping out and watching some racing. The guest race was a good laugh, the rostrum took 18 people with ease :woot:

Congrats to the winners, Tony & Jamie and all the movers and shakers in the A. :)

Fingers crossed you guys get to revisit Broxtowe next year. Finally, a big well done Mid East,

Cheers Nick - I thought it was my speedo but Jamie helped out, a new one went in and still the same thing - Jumped the car and it just stopped.
It's only right to say is sorry to LRP as I have NEVER had a speedo go in some near 15 years of running LRP products.
I thought it was a first but now I think it must be the receiver - I was looking forward to try and give Jamie a race for his money but it wasn't to be this time round.
Good to hear from you Nick - see yah soon

Hi All who may be interested.
Obviously having been around a long while you see most things but I have to say that watching Jamie Booth on Sunday was just the way our sport should be done. Any young driver at the event should have been watching his lines, his approach to the track, his ability to keep it under control, it was all eyewatering. Apart from the triple which he was sketchy at at times he was just awesome.
At the start of the day he could not have TQ'ed Heat 1, but he slowly built on that to win the meeting. I hear SMD are looking to sell bottles of such tallent. Should be a big seller!

I have to agree!!!

Maybe we should organise an old skool get together.?!?!?

With the likes of Jamie Booth, Steve Haynes, Craig Drescher, Rory Cull, Kevin Moore, Ben Sturnam, Steve West, Laurence & Darren Harris plus all the other top drivers who used to do it years ago.. and maybe do a " players / reedy " format and get all the current top guys to go head to head plus anyone else who would like to enter, it would be mint!!

What do folks reckon??

Totally agree Charlie...ive just watched the video of the first leg of the A-final. At the time i thought i was matching him but watching it back it was clear he was a class above all the way, im sure he had loads left in the tank just in case i, or anyone else got anywhere near him! Was great to have a chance to race with/against him though.

Well done Jamie, top stuff!

It was a great weekend, I slept all day Monday

I came back with Jamie's buggy and started to pack it away after the 2nd leg, thinking that Jamie was going to let the rest of the A final battle it out. I came back after watching my Mate's final only to find Jamie putting it all back on charge and saying to me that he wants to change shocks. I thought he was packing up and he said"I paid me money and I'm racing lol" We fitted more droop all around and it went even better in the last leg. What a way to do the triple win
