Hi

I have read that the americans make a 4th hole in the rear tower and cut some coils of the black Asso rear springs when using lipo. Can anyone explain why they do this? They say is to get more side bite and rear steering? I gues this doesn't apply to any circuit, I suppose is better to have more weight if the track is slippery. Does any one know more about this lightweigh setup?

It's an unusual one. Leaning the top of the shock in makes the wheel rate a little softer. Cutting coils off springs makes the spring harder.

The intention I believe is to decrease rear ride height (which is naturally higher with the lighter LiPo cells), and compensate for the stiffer spring rate by leaning the shock in a little.

Probably equally significant is that someone on the team tried it - liked it - and everyone else copied it. Dogma influences RC car setup as much as analysis!
