It had a good test last saturday night with ten saloons out there in one heat, it was a good nights racing you will have to come over one sat nigt

I've got a little circular saw that I use for these things - you just need that, a drill and a file. That said, I gotta admit, FibreLyte made this particular one. They got Prices on their website for sheet, or you can send them plans and they'll give you a quote. not always cheap, but that's the nature of what they do...but theyre very helpful indeed.

Can i test how strong it is on the track :woot: Go for it mate! Time will tell how it lives up to the week-in week-out abuse that a saloon stock gets, but it handled absoutely amazing. I weighed this and the other car; this one came in at something like 200 grammes lighter, on my dodgy old kitchen scales. Stiffer too, and that definitely helps with the handling. Well chuffed with it :thumbsup:

Yeah, definitely legal. The biggest obstacle to overcome was the £85 price limit, in fact. With the carbon fibre alone costing £40, plus the cost of cutting it, that was a fairly hefty chunk of the budget. As I specced it up, it works out at about £84 or so...so if someone wanted one I COULD supply it for less than the price limit.

The really interesting thing with this is the difference in handling between this car and and identical one with a GRP chassis. I've got two now - identical shells, identical radio gear, servos, and motors, everything and the way this one handles is amazing compared to the other one. On the scales it comes in at about 200g lighter so no doubt that helps, but I was staggered by just how different the two cars were to drive. I've never driven an oval car that's so responsive yet easy to drive and easy to set up...well chuffed with it.

Downsides: it's pricy to make something out of CF as opposed to GRP, and being so light it easier to for someone to spin you out. That said, could probably fix that with some more set up - harder tyres on the front and so on.

Still gotta try that camber adjustment on the front yet, that'll be the next thing to play with...then I'm gonna make a few production ones to sell I think...both GRP AND carbon. There's GOTTA be a better option for Saloon racing than a V12 with 6 cells in...no matter how well Tom goes with his

I'm a sucker for carbon fibre bits. I made a carbon fibre chassis and some bling bits for my v12. It looked nice, but the extra stiffness was a bit of a bind.

isnt the BRCA rules that the cost of the whole car should be less than £85? (minus electrics)

You got that right hence its mainley cheap stuff on the car bar the carbon fibre :drool:

Exactly right...I could save a little by making my own bodyposts (there's £10 just for those on this car) and bumpers and servo mounts and little things which would get the price down enough that I could run an alloy hubcarrier and those nice aluminium dogbone adapters...but that said, it goes absolutely fine and has been 100% reliable so far.

SOOO fast too - that saved weight definitely makes a lot more difference than I thought it would
