The Gym has been burned down. I hope they don't blame us for supplying the Diesel fuel from our roller.

Hopefully the council will clean it up for us.

Looks a mess, just spoken to Roger and he says the fire has not effected the track which I think we are lucky for.
Roger, any need for assistance in de-sooting the straight then give me a shout please, im sure dad will come too. Thats if council don't come and do it for us....
I imagine a good brush and then a pressure washer should sort it.
Have they done awy with the step up at the end of the straight?

Bloody hell, this shouldn't effect the club though should it. Can't believe I was only there on Sunday, I even had a wee up against the side of the gym cos the toilets weren't open :(

[second that :p] if that was done on purpose then the person must have loved the track cos its amazing how close it is to the track without it effecting it. does any1 no when it was done??
Must of been Sunday night or Monday night as we were racing there on Sunday.

Me and Mr WoOdeh have just been to look and it has melted some of the astro turf under all that soot, so it looks like the end of the straight will need replacing, so all hands on deck! Anyone who wants to help please contact me or stu. All help will be gratefully recieved! ;)

does anyone know wen the work will happen?
As above by Andy. I assume this means racing on sunday 15th will not go ahead unless repairs are finished?

I think that is a little too much to ask. Repairs will not have even started considering its the national this weekend and people work all week. I can only assume at the moment that the following weekend will be a working party weekend for anyone who would like to race at Bury in coming weeks.

Looks like we will be useing that old stuff then Stu. I will be able to come and help the weekend after the national on the Sunday. We could put Chris's loop the loop at the end of the straight now.:) .
Was it the local chvs that did it or was G there till 7 on sunday trying out a new jet powered car.

How much works involved in replacing that bit of track?, my thoughts being..... are there enough people not going to the national who could do it early Sunday morning?....what is it, 2 meters by 1.5 meters?
Just a thought, would 5 or 6 people and a couple of hrs be enough time?
Northy
10-04-2007, 09:33 PM
Does it need replacing for a club meeting?
I'd like to race somewhere this weekend as I'm not at Tivvy. :(

Was thinking of that too, but if the front straight is burnt and the back straight is "changing", that only leaves the fiddly bits in the middle and my car doesnt go great unless it's in a straight line!!:D
All sounds good - I don't race nationals and wanted to have a thrash about this weekend. I'll happly turn up a few hours early to help if it'll do any good...

Hi guys. If you want to go down on Sunday and do a bit its up to you. I am not there due to me being at Tivy. If you want though I can get Dad to come down and supervise? If so, good luck with him. Let me know and I will get it sorted.

I think its a good idea sooner its done the better really, Plus we can squeeze a few heats in on sunday as well.
There is the option of missing that part of the track out.
Or the super wooden jump to clear the burnt patch :D
If you want though I can get Dad to come down and supervise? If so, good luck with him....
Stu, is Rog your dad? And that sounds like he needs ruling with a rod of iron.!..

How much track is burnt woody?, I know how heavy that astro turf is now, especially with sand in it!!!
Failing that, we have just about everything thats left on this picture apart from the top right hand bit (back straight)

The bit that is melted is after the jump in the straight just where you land and up to the bricks on the hairpin.

Woody, can the melted Astro be raced over once swept? then when we all get back from the National - all of us can muck in.

Woody / Rog
Have we lost the electricity supply as a result of the fire? If so, running a meeting is gonna prove a bit tricky.
If we still have electric & water I'm quite happy to bring my jet-wash down on Sunday morning to try and blast the track clean if that will help.
I'm willing to come and help on Sunday, but as I've said before I'm a worker ant so I'll leave to organising to Roger.

i have offered Roger my generator for the day, he is checking today to see if the electricity is still running

Just (12:30 Wed) been down to the track and it seems unlikely that we will have electrickery for Sunday. So it will be the borrowed generator.
there's no water either so no brews.
There's a fence to stop us getting into the ashes but don't lose much of the track.
RobHatcliffe
11-04-2007, 02:15 PM
Does the track need a few hours work before racing on Sunday Roger, or is it useable in it's present state?
I may nip over after work tonight to have a mooch and see what needs doing.

No it's OK Rob. It's no different to Sunday except the burned landing done.

Is it really necessary to relay the astro, or is it okay still? Afterall, there has been a burnt patch on the central hill for years which nobody has ever noticed.... bet you'll ask me where now ;)

Thats a real bummer, bloody families.
The astro was replaced today from the jump to the bricks. Made landing from the jump and braking so much easier.

Sorry, but im gonna have to disagree. Only for the moment tho as im sure that as soon as it wears in a bit it will be ace again. At the moment all the new astro is (as predicted) is really slipery. I found it really hard to find a consistant line into all new bits. I hope that it will grippen up soon tho.
Thats just my two penny worth
Loving the fact that we can run a few more tracks now tho, national should be ace, get yourselves along and see what you think. Would be nice to have a few more people supporting the local clubs especially when people have been putting a lot of effort in (not me by the way)
Danny
The jump at the back of the track, at the start of the 'back-straight', is now better. As the second part of the feature is now a table-top it can be taken slower and more under control. I can now get over it without a breakage most times round.
Danny's right, the new stuff is shiny, green & slippy but I'm sure it will grip up once it gets some good dirt on it.
Has the astro-turf mine at the top of the track now run dry?
Spencer Mulcahy

Dont think so Stu but it is a bitch to get out as it is so heavy.
