WHAT DIFFERENCE ARE SNEE INSERT'S TO SAY A SCHUMMACHER BLUE INSERT? AND WHEN TO USE THEM?

Speaking as only a reasonable driver, I find no difference at all. In theory the different softness of the foam means a different profile of the tyre in contact with the ground - just like a flat car tyre, too soft foams mean the tyre wearing on the outer edges (so loosing cornering grip) and too hard mans wear in the centre (more wheel spin). Different foams are better suited to different tyres and different ground surfaces and condtions but I have no idea which is best...
