Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid SE

An friend who gave up racing years ago has given me his old buggy.

It started life as a Turbo Optima Mid and then he added on the SE LWB conversion kit.

Only thing is he has somehow broken the chassis so options are either:

1. Get a new lower chassis plate sourced or made

or

2. Break the car for spares if anyone is interested?

Anyone know where you can get LWB Mid belts from?

but you cant say "i want an belt for the Optima mid LWB"
you have to order an 25,4 inch XL belt 3,5mm wide.

If you read the numbers on the belt you know what to get.

Ok guys had a good look at the car last night.

It started life as a Turbo Optima Mid, then the LWB conversion kit was added, then Lazer ZXR wishbones, hubs and body. It also has Schumacher Cougar red shocks on it not the original gold kyosho ones.

Is it worth investing in a new chassis and radio plate (top deck)? If I spend say £60 on CF chassis/radio plate would I get my money back when selling it?

If I spend say £60 on CF chassis/radio plate would I get my money back when selling it?If you want to upgrade or not is up to you, and depends on whether you are trying to get it running again for yourself, or just fixing it to sell it on.

Personally unless you find an original Kyosho carbon chassis I would stick with picking up a second hand chassis either on it's own or find a well worn Mid on ebay. Both will be cheaper than the Fibrelyte chassis. I would also consider asking FibreLyte how much a chassis is CSC composite would be.

Considering your car is a bit of a mongrel it definitely isn't worth as much as a perfect original example as it's half a Mid and half a Lazer. I have picked up several good condition Mids to use as spare parts for my runners for £20-30, only perfect examples sell for lots of money. If you add the Fibrelyte parts you won't get anywhere near £60 more for it just because it has those parts.

The chassis on ebay right now is the Mid Custom one. It is an alloy chassis, but still a direct fit. Wouldn't be my first choice of replacement though.
