What esc's are you guys using in your Durangos? I currently have a RS Pro in mine but I am starting to think I need something stronger to spin all that metal. NO matter what I do my esc will be right at 200 (and feeling very sluggish) after 10 minutes on the track.

I'm thinking about getting a different one if I cant lower my temps. I race only on hard clay and dirt tracks. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I have used a nosram matrix with a 5.5 motor which was good but recently changed to speed passion gt speedo runing the 6.5, 3.0 model motor and i find it a superb combo that is plenty quick enough. These are powered by the new trakpower dark series saddle pack lipo's:drool:. I'm over the moon with this package:thumbsup:

Have a look on www.speedpassion.net (http://www.speedpassion.net) and look for it under the products heading.

Thanks Griff.

How are the temps with that setup? Plenty of speed you say?

I checked out the motor on SP's site but I cant find anywhere to buy them????

Don't forget that running for 10mins is going to make the running gear hot, no matter what you run.
Have you got any cooling holes in the shell?

to be honest i never check temps. As long as everything is cool/warm, not hot to the touch i am happy:thumbsup:
Try contacting marc @ www.m-k-racing.com (http://www.m-k-racing.com) he may be able to sort you out as he has the speedo's for sale;).

Like Tel says, 10 mins of runtime will make most hot, the most i have run is 7mins.(so far!!!)

Sorry to butt into a durango area but i'm suprised you are struggling with the RS Pro... Thats a top level ESC, I'm not sure anyone has ever comented on my car looking sluggish.

If you are running for 10 mins it might be worth getting a fan on there but as others have said that will get any speedo hot. Are you running the latest firmware and what settings are you using?

PM me if you need a setup... I wouldn't give up on it and spend money on something else just yet.

Yes I realize that 10 minute runs will make most esc'c hot, but If I had a esc with a fan it wouldent be so bad. Our mains our 10 min's

Yep, I have holes in both sides of the shell

Ok, if you'e running 10 min mains, it will be worth (as Kev says) just getting a fan for very little money, rather than investing in a brand new speedo.

Just wire it up to your power wires and it will be on when you plug in, cooling it down before you race, then cooling it off when you're marshalling...as long as it isn't unplugged.

Worth a try before you spend some mega bucks! :)

Also if you haven't already, cut holes in the front and the back of the little intakes too. This way its blowing the hot air out of the back of it rather than just circulating the warm air inside the shell.
