Looking for a cheap brushless system for my RC18T - anyone tried the EZRun 18T for 1/18 scale cars? Any other recommendations for cheap systems which will fit straight in?

Thanks for that. I take it the 18T would be better for racing than the 12T? Track is medium size 1/10 off road.

Sounds like you mean a 10th scale system, as in 12/18T (540 size motor).

We (dan and I) have a 5200kV setup in the micro's. It is designed for micro only vehicles (with 280 size motor).

You want the EzRun Micro 18A Speedo, and motor combo. It also comes with a cool little programming box.

Regards, and HTH

That's the motor I was looking at - it gets called a 18T in some e-Bay ads like this one:

I was thinking of the 25A ESC though? Might have more in reserve than the 18A?

Well if it were up to me, I would get the 13.5 Mongoose combo from novak. The ezrun is okay in a light 2wd micro, but it might be a little weak in an RC18...

The 25A version might be just the ticket though. Depends on whether your bashing or racing I guess.

Enjoy though!

Motor wise the 18turn probably makes more sense. You certainly don't want anything silly like my 9200kv C4 motor - its far too much. But its worth mentioning that to tame that motor needed a Mamba Micro Pro which is a 30A esc.

Personally I reckon if you want to go Ezrun, get one of the 35A 1/10th controllers. No way is that going to be swamped with any motor in a Rc18T! Run without the fan (cos its a bit big otherwise) it performs as well as the Mamba. Indeed, out of curiosity (and insanity) I tried the Mamba Micro Pro in a 10th, using the 9T from the 35A Ezrun. It also works!

Mongoose is certainly the best option, but costs a whole lot more. Also not really worth it for the RC18 as you can't compete with the Sharks on a level playing field whatever motor/esc you use so why worry?

My bro runs the ezrun 25A controller on a 7800kv (12T) motor in his rc18 and the controller handles 2 cell lipo with that motor fine. Not tried 3 cell lipo on it though.

Been running the 25A esc and the 7800 motor in my Xray for say 40-50 packs, it is the best sensorless combo today if you ask me...it costs nothing and working as a dream.

The motor 12T is the 7800rpm motor. for carpet racing it is perfect.

Im going to try the small 18A esc in my other truck...with the C4 8000rpm..it have less punch that esc..like driving with Expo on trottle...ut my recomendation is the 25A direct soleder, and use a 180 can (like mamba) 8000 app..
