Hey gang, maybe not the best Q to ask but I'm old and gaming kinda leaves me cold... We've got the kids a Wii thingy for christmas, but as there are 3 of 'em and the box only has 1 handset(and a nunchuk..??!!) what else do I need to get to allow them all to play mariokart or tennis..? can I just buy seperate/extra handsets, and will they all work at the same time?

4 handsets at a time can be used, the wii will sort out numbering when you pair them like your phone and bluetooth headset, you will want one nunchuck for each handset for multiplayer like olympics, there are wireless nunchucks now, although I haven't tried one.Should be able to get a controller and nunchuck under £40 a set genuine ones are best, we have one that doesn't work quite as well, that is a copy.Mariokart wheels are great, but don't have any hardware in, so only buy them at a quid or so, a good way is a set of extras, wheel baseball bat tennis racket golf club etc, usually a tenner or so for 12 bits, one set each they will be chuffed.

If its just for Mario Kart why not buy a wired Gamecube controller or 3...could save you a few quid. They plug straight into the Wii controller ports under the flap and if you ask me its the best way to play Mario Kart anyways :)

cool, thanks for the info... The box set we have got has 1 contoller and the nunchuck in it, wii sports, mariokart and another sports game with lots of single games on it... I like your suggestion about the sets tho', I will keep checking the #bay... A quick g**gle revealed the nunchuck plugs into the other(hand)controller, but is not always used for many types of game plugged in like this... Will I need more nunchucks and controllers or just controllers.. the kids are 5, 7 'n 13...

Trust me, you need one nunchuck per handset, majority of fun games use them nowadays
Cheapest I found them was a London firm specialises in them 25 handset 15 nunchuck freepost
just googled for them.
We have 3 of each but niece is getting full setup for christmas, hers are 5 and 3 both play ours fine

hey mate a word from the south lol
i have got a wii with 3 controllers and if i was you i would look at getting the recharging sets as well. by the time you replace the batterys in 3 or 4 handsets you will really thank us southerners for the heads up ;). look at the bay for battery pack that recharge they come with stands that plug in by usb in the back of the wii. also beleave it or not but morrisons do a charging kit that is good for the price and it holds the chucks. i know also that boom blocks is a great game to play when there are 4 players. drop me a line if you need more help.

Seconded on the nimh packs, I didn't think anyone still used AAs in handsets, first thing with mine was 2 2800 and a charging base plugs into USB on back of wii, two sets 4 controllers, no AAs ever again, although the wii fit board AAs seem to live forever, so the pack for that may be a waste of money:thumbsup:

Wii plugged in and it is great fun..! I'm feeling my age after trying to keep up with the kids on Wii sports and resort... However... I AM KING OF TABLE TENNIS...! We got some rechargeable packs for the remotes from the get go as we knew from experience that with 3 kids all wanting toys/games that are battery powered, rechargeable are the only way to go!!

Cheers fella's... merry christmas and a happy new year...
