I nipped to Manchester at the weekend for a spot of Christmas shopping and uncovered a new model car shop, RCMods, in the Triangle (opposite Selfridges).

They've got a massive range of model cars, planes and helicopters of varying prices and they've got loads of parts as well.

The customer service was great and the staff are really friendly. Definitely worth slyly mentioning to people when discussing Christmas presents!

I've attached details below, for those less familiar with Manchester:
RCMods
Unit 14b
The Triangle
37 Hanging Ditch, Manchester, M4 3TR
0161 839 6090

Ahhh I used to pass the warehouse every day whilst living in Darwen and always wondered if it was actually anything to do with RC.

I've seen it already. Its one of about 3 shops still open in the Triangle. Its all HSP stuff, low end RTR but not especially cheap. Good in that it might get a few more people buying RC's, but nowt to interest us.....

Ive dealt with rc mods for donkeys with heli stuff, hes a good lad but as others have said most of his kit is low end toys. Granted some of his helis are great bits of kit, Align Trex's and similar, but the bulk of his business is cheap chinese stuff

Not that good if it's HSP stuff. Everything we see from that sort of range tends to put people off buying another RC car. They tend to get all other RC cars tarred with the same brush as being unreliable and poorly built.

Thats a bit harsh!! Every manufacture has there faults! Thinks thats poor coming from a model shop owner to a model shop owner(competitor)

Really:thumbdown:

I was refering to Simons comment Good in that it might get a few more people buying RC's

Not a dig at the model shop, just a dig at HSP and their fairly well known (in the trade at the very least) distributor over here.

Yes, there are faults on pretty much anything if you look hard enough, but you don't usually have to look hard on an HSP.

I'm merely going off what I see every day here in the shop from people who have bought HSP cars (mainly off the net).

I don't feel that it's poor form to make known when I think a brand does more harm for our hobby and sport than good. I believe that it's the sort of honest opinion that any model shop should give. I've always told people if I think a brand is good, even when we don't stock it.
