Also for u guys running the cars what are the weak and strong points that you've seen in the car? I've heard that b4 wheels and losi fit?? Just trying to learn a lil bit more about the cars before i get them next week. Do b4 steering blocks work up front. I beleive i've seen some guys using them. Thanks for any info.

So now we have the Annsman xpro /TeamcTCO2/Kawada B2x and now the TQ RACING SX 10 (all the same).
This could all get a bit confusing... :)
Anymore for anymore?
Really enjoying mine, been running it for the last few months on dirt at the Proline Dirt Arena and its been a great performer. The shocks are fantastic,i,ve hardly broken a thing on it apart from the Tpieces which have now been strengthened on new kits.
I,m running standard setup with Red springs all round and 30degree hub carrier.
As for pics ..mine from a while back ..Trf shocks/vortex shell

COOL ANY SHOTS WITH The body off??do any other shells out there fit it?? I know the team azarashi body fits. I was curious if a b4 body would fit if u cut the back part off?? im assuming your vortex is made for the b4?

Its the Vortex for the Kyosho RB-5 .Gives it a bit more space for brushless esc with fan.

Yea it looks like a nice car(cat sx). I know here in the u.s it around $500 which imo is wayyyy to much for a 10thscale 4wd. U can get a 1/8th scale for cheaper than that.

btw any TRUCK PICS OUT THERE HAHAH:D

yeh it just looks mean , hopefully schumacher will bring out a clubman edition of the cat sx at around half the cost, if they are at all in touch with the grass roots racers they will, maybe if we all sent nice polite emails to them ?! that 4wd in the pics above looks like it could be fun, love to know a bit more about it, ie, ball diffs or geared,2 diffs or 3, slipper included? ,time will tell, does say they are still to finalize a few things,, hope we are kept informed .:D

Notice the shock bodies on that 4wd, your madrat/xpro (2wd/st) does not come with those as of yet...? Apparently a great improvement over the non hardcoated shocks.
That Bmaxx is a sport version, there of course is i believe a "worlds" edition for a considerable higher price tag.

i did notice them, hopefully they will do the hard coat bodies as an upgrade on there own to keep cost down ,i have found the green shocks on the x-pro to be superb , if the hard coats are even better then i cant wait to get my mitts on some,.:D

Those shocks are versions that tq makes. Hopefully though if ansmann or a similar company duplicates the car they give u guys quality shocks. I do know the tq shocks are extremely smooth.

thanks saw that before, still think £270 is a bit much, i know its still very well speced but they could do with building it down a bit and offering it as an assembly kit for around £170, you never know they might be working on it as i type,. just my 2 cents .

Only problem being what could they make cheaper? It already uses fibreglass (or similar) instead of Carbon fibre...

None threaded shocks? But then would they need to put money into designing and making them?

I dont think they could ever make it worth while producing one for £170, and if they did id imagine the quality would suffer and you'd have to spend £ XXX amount getting it to be reliable...

Just my thoughts :)

No missing those on the track! I had to put my shades on...:)
What are those tires on the truck and do you think thats a bit too much "wing" on it?

nikos2002
07-12-2009, 09:44 PM
Those are Losi Taper Pins. On the track Rob races on they actually grind the trend off and get more traction by the tire being a complete slick.

Now when I used to race on a track like that you needed all the wing you could get, because if you got off the line, you lost traction quickly, so the wing really helped. It is not uncommon to see the cars and trucks pull wheelies due to the traction when the conditions are right.

thats interesting since we run proline holeshots and ribs up front i take it the surface must be different to our hard packed dirt we run on

The surface is hard packed clay. Wants it gets worked in about the only tire u can run is slicks. Theres alot of traction.

looks like it went well the traction wheelys are nothing new to us on our surface we can pull those aswell may try a totaly bald set on weds see what happens i think it will just be loads of spinning if im honest

nikos2002
08-12-2009, 10:54 PM
normally the tracks that can support slicks or almost bald tires have a wet tacky feel to them. It depends on the amount of clay in the dirt.

If your track has a layer of loose dirt on top then something with a tread is going to be better. Unless so many cars run on it that a "blue" groove from the rubber develops. Then a lower pattern like a taper pin or work out tire might work.

Anyone know what the other extra ball ends are for, the ones with a 30º or so bend in them? Also any other shock pistons that fit, the kit ones are thinner then the space between the e clips on the shaft. I dont like the play in the shock action.

mattlynch
11-12-2009, 01:38 AM
they are to give added clearence between the rear wheel and ball stud, as for the sloppy pistons just buy a pack of m3 x 0.1 mm shims, hope this helps

It's a perfect fit - you can use the trim lines moulded into the shell.

I use velcro to hold the shell on rather than body clips so the shell has to match the chassis pretty closely - and it does. I'll post a pic of the car tonight from the underside if you want, to show what the fit between the two is like.

What speedo have you got under that shell..is there plenty of room for fans?
From the pics it looks good from underneath as its a nice tight fit ,better than my proline RB5 shell.
I recently tried a Kyosho RB5 sword shell which was also a nice fit.

kedal
20-01-2010, 08:49 AM
Thanks shannow, seems perfect fit ! If I had to buy a shell, I'll choose this one, or the Jconcept one...

I have seen you have the ezrun motor, do you have the ezrun esc too ?

Shannow
20-01-2010, 12:22 PM
Yep I use a 60Amp Ezrun ESC with a 5.5 6000 motor - This is pretty new for me (only raced once with this setup) but ran well and stayed cool using a 19 tooth pinion - I'm racing at Bury this weekend so that'll be a good test for it.

I've got the fan on the ESC and it does fit without any problems if it is on it's side.

kedal
20-01-2010, 01:12 PM
Ok, I have the same esc, but with the 8.5T motor, running with the 21T pignion (86T spur)
I put the fan on the side because it touched the shell. No cooling problem.

I've not really had any issues with the stock shocks despite hearing all the problems about the tops popping off etc, but I did find it a bit of a swine to control on a bumpy section of track last time at Bury - I've messed around with the suspension settings quite a bit since so hopefully it'll be better this time around but I was considering getting some Associated shocks.

A 5.5 in a 2wd.....thats gotta be crazy!! I hope the traction was really good!
Keep us informed on the ez run esc. Do you get what you pay for or.......
Theres a new one called X-erun or something? Sposed to be new+improved.

shannow : It's not the original shocks, it's the Losi shocks, soooo good :)
See my little blog for some pics :

http://rctouch.over-blog.com/

notme : the ezrun is really good, no problem with it for now.
The Xerun is a little different, and sensored. The Ezrun is sensorless.

Notme: I ran with the punch set to a minimum and had no probs on a really small (but grippy) twisty track - biggest issue was slowing down for the corners! This is my first brushless setup so I don't know enough to compare to other manufacturers - it ran faultlessly though and very smooth. Looking forward to racing at Bury this weekend and having enough space to let her rip :-)

Kedal: Wow, very soft shocks (look great!) and stock tyres! I'm guessing it was a pretty low grip surface you were running on.

kedal
21-01-2010, 08:46 AM
shannow : the socks aren't that soft, it's only for the picture :) (losi oil grad 30 on it, and standard springs) I ran on a wet ground, high grip surface, no problem with the car, really stick to the ground.
I don't have other tyres, for now, the stock tyres are enough :)

4800kv sensorless xcelorin (100A).
Runs very well now I have my gearing sorted (down to a 16t)
Do you think my esc will be ok running fanless?

I have an LRP AI pro (150A) and 9.5t sensored combo on its way too.

My lipos are quite good, they're cheap Chinese ones.
4500mah 25c = 110A
3600mah 25c = 90A ish

I'm making up for the hours I spent running a hornet with mech s/c and dead batteries!!! :)

kaylon

Oh and farmboy..I think they are these shocks (http://www.ansmannstore.com/radio-controlled-models/electric-models/hopups/aluminium-shocks/ansmann-aluminium-dampers-95mm-pair.html)

They are not bad for budget alloy shocks.

J

JezT
05-04-2010, 09:54 AM
Yep - They are Ansmann - Had one pair that leaked, solved this by replacing the pistons and O rings from the kit plastic shocks (very slightly tighter).

As Kaylon said - ok for budget shocks

I oversprayed our 2 (see earlier pictures) - not the perfect solution - but have withstood a lot of bumps and scrapes (landing on roof, etc) in the last month or so, while we are learning to drive.

Will eventially get clear shells and do proper paint jobs.

Sorry, no movies. The car started well, before falling victim to the motor plate issue. It'll go even better once I put oil in the front shocks!

Nice little "precious" :) Congrats to it!
Though I've never understood what's so good in mudding...

it's winter here and our track is damp, good traction compared to summer though when it's dusty.

I like my 4wd buggy in the summer

Yeah there's wasn't any real mud around, it's just a nice amount of moisture to make good traction, like a speedway track. They are off road cars they belong in the dirt :)

Dampers are GPM, didnt want to get green ones, like having the colours matching. I had to use and drill out the aluminium spacer at the rear to keep the action smooth. The fronts just went straight on. Not sure of the weight of the oil but I swear by bosch chainsaw oil, I use it in all my car shocks.

The screws I got as a full set from ebay (even got a pile of spares)

I like how you have your servo setup and the batt forward

Yes ! Lot of steering because of the lipo's position and lot of rear grip and motricity because of the esc's position :)
AND a light car (1520gr) very good handling... I really love this weight configuration and couldnt go back to the stock weight configuration !

I've done the same mod on my stock motor plate, but no need so far with the option motor plate.

I think, I will go to and make an "option motor plate" :P Mine is bent in an S shape. I hate it.

You guys are rough :) I haven't striped the threads or bent the plate yet (much), maybe only 1 or 2 degrees.

Today I'm going to pick up my 4wd from the post office and tonight I'll start the build thread, I'll try and take a macro picture of every single part and make it a good thread

Check out the video and pictures of TQ's Nate Lavery at the J Concepts Summer Indoor Nationals in CA. Nate was the TQ and winner of the Modified Truck class - with a 13.5!!

Awsome :) the ST truck is the fastest comparatively to other makes I think, I only have a 13.5 in mine for burning around the track in the backyard and it's pretty fast (small tight track)

I have a 7.5 in mine, and its a bit of a handful but a lot of fun! Works great on higher traction surfaces.
