I'm still waiting to see if i could get a lift of someone. Because my dad is currently in the North Sea and i dont think he will be coming home for at least 3 weeks. :( So if anyone is feeling generous, and would like to help a 14 year old out then that would be terrific. But if not I will probably just sit at home, twidling my thumbs thinking of something to do.;)

When is the regional?
Middle weekend in May, 19th & 20th.
There should be quite a few drivers competing in the 'non-points' class, for practice on the new track features prior to the national no doubt.
There is also a NW regional meeting there the Sunday after, again feel free to come up.
There should be quite a few drivers competing in the 'non-points' class, for practice on the new track...
Always assuming there's enough entry space left!! I think this is gonna be the first busy one of the season:)
True.
I think 'watch this space' should be advised.
I'm hoping there will be some non-region space as I've got a sparkling new XX to run.

I don't think there has ever been a problem with the locals at our place before.
One thing to be aware of, is that as far as I know, we're still waiting for a date for water & toilet facilities to be restored by the council after the fire. Mid May was the last estimate I heard - maybe Roger has been given a more accurate idea by now.

I am still waiting to see if anybody could give me a lift. I'm not to fussed about 4wd. It is mainly 2wd that i am into at the moment. (But I still like to keep up with my 4wd.) So if anybody could help me out then i would be extremely greatful.:)
Mr LEG-END what does your dad do?
If he is on a platform, the latest he can be home is 21 days from the day he lands on the installation?
Its usually 14days max but you can do 21 days with a special dispensation. but this is the absolute max.;)

At the moment he is on a barge, which lays pipes in the sea. He is one of the scanner tech's i think. He has to scan all of the welds made to make sure there wont be any leaks. He is currently working 6weeks on and 3weeks off. But he does this i think he will be a week or 2 to late.:(
Get him out to Khazakstan, 4 on 4 off over there!!
Sounds like your knackered mate:(

I don't know who asked already, but what happens with non-regional people in the North East? I am north west now, but already have my name down for this and other events - should I cancel and resubmit somehow?
:o
I have another similar query jim, are the "foreigners" mixed in with the ones competing for points, or do they have there own heat and final?
I think they're mixed in for heats but have a separate final. I could be wrong on the heats, but DEFINITELY a separate final.

There are about 5 of us leaving the North East at around 3 on Friday.
Early I know, but the plan is to prepare the cars when we are there on the Friday night, for the Saturday, while drinking the grog.
Are we allowed to use disposable BBQs if we bring bricks to protect the grass? And if we dispose of them.

Get your backside there josh, dont be a softie, you wont get that wet, i've just dried out from last weekend & it'll be better than that (I hope)
G, I reckon Craig Collinson will win his first regional this weekend in 2wd & Stu Wood to win the 4wd to make up for his torrid weekend at Kiddy. Both closely followed by Rich Lowe, Tom Cockerill, Adam Skelding etc etc (the usual suspects) Plus you will make both A finals as well Northy.

Does the North East bring their own transponders? I spoke to Stu Wood just now and he mentioned that really they need to borrow some if not since theirs are in a poor way possibly. So does anyone know? And if not, can anyone bring some?
I want to go Barry but the rain dont appeal as I am on a strict money diet, cant afford buying wet tyres or even worse, a speedo blowing.
Plus, my GCSE's start tommorow and I need to be prepared and although I want to go racing, if its gonna be a bit of a rainy day, id be better off at home revising, as sad as it sounds :eh?:

Knowing the track at Bury is paramount in wanting to do well. If you dont know the track you hit just about ever hump, bump, jump going.
When you know the track, all these obstacles seem to disappear (kinda) - you know what i mean

what time do i need to be there on sunday? whats the deal with practise, open practise or timed? how many rounds/qualis and isit single A mains or 3?
Pracitce is odd, I think its 4 minute timed and I believe open practice, at least it was at Durham.
Format is usually 4 rounds of qualifying with 2 best rounds to count. Then one legged finals.
Unsure about whether to do 2wd at bury but has anyone got a wet setup for a B4? I assume Schumacher Green minispikes would be the tyre of choice, never drove in the wet.
super__dan
17-05-2007, 09:16 PM
Open practice till it gets busy, then 5 min slots sorted by club until end of practice. 4 rounds, 1 final, seperate for non regional.
Book in beofre 9am at latest, racing starts by 10 usually.

seeing as my 4wd wont be here for sat, can you run a 2wd in 4wd? and add weight?
As far as I know yes as long as it's at 4wd weight

Uhmm I usually race on half worns in the dry, some new ones would certainly last ME all day. in the wet you need greens or ballistics or some random american tyres though.

Sorry, I meant adding the extra weight to a 2wd. will that wear the tyres more?
Although if I remember, it doesn't weigh much less than the 1588g's anyway.

i think that the right decision was made today, about the racing being cancelled before the final, the track had 2-3 inch deep puddles and after last weeks performance, and all the speedos and receivers going bang,
i have to say great decision buy all involved, great days racing and no damages,

Never been to Bury before, glad I did.
Didnt expect the track to be half as good as it was, amazing track and big thanks to the organisers, despite a shocking final and some dodgy driving on my part, was a very enjoyable regional which I look forward to next years.
The little bumps were difficult but added to the challenge of the track and Im glas they were there, just to catch a few off guard and challenge them.
Mind you, that big jump off the banked corner broke alot of cars today and was tricky to get right but was great when you nailed it :D Mine survived somehow

I realy enjoyed myself on the way to the c final.:eh?: shame a stripped servo horn ended my race early.
Nice to chat with woody, I took some of your advice and the car handled better in the final.;)
Liked the first half of the track, nice and flowing. the second half, not to sure about (as I mentioned to you woody) but I just got on with it and was careful over those ickle jumps.
Deffo look forward to going there again.

Excellent weekend, especially the 2WD day. I love the speed and flow of Bury, well done to the club, and the new features were great.
Pity we couldnt get more people involved with the footy on Sat night, but the record is now 14 to beat in the keep up game.
Well done to Dan, an 'eventful' qualifying and final resulted in a well deserved win, excellent stuff.
The B final I was in was a bit rough, could maybe have done with an official referee, but still enjoyable.
Nice display of car control from the AE lads in the non regional heat aswell,
all in all, a memorable weekend.

Thanks chaps, I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday, drove pretty well and won’t let Richard forget my move past him on the triples ;) Thanks for putting those in the track Woody else I would never have got back past him!
Not sure what the policy on refs is now, I thought we were going to have them but we didn’t at Durham or at Bury. From what I heard the back of the A was a scrappy affair, some taking out and not waiting (very rude).
Tel, if you saw some scruff in a Novak T-shirt peering into the back of your focus, that was me. Your Optima shell is every bit as nice in the flesh as it is on the computer, good skills!

Brilliant day Sunday. The Bury track is a real challenge but fantastic. Woody is that your old fella on race control? Had a good chat and a laugh with him as we waited (again) for the top boys to marshall our lowly heat.
Dans OVERtaking of Richard was right under our nose, it was gonna take something a bit spesh cos Richard was on it too. Good racing. Saw a few of the other guys in the A having a minor dommie but I'm sure they'll sort it out. Not sure what happened to Tom, he was going well then diseappeared a bit.
Anyway top day, cant wait for next one.

Enjoyed yesterday despite breaking my car on the double after the banked corner twice. Broke the rear shock tower in the 2nd qualifier then the front left wish bone and shock cap in the 3rd qualifier - I took it a bit easier in the 4th qualifier 'cos i didn't want to end up in the bottom final!!
It's a great track but definitely requires plenty of practice to have any chance of doing well.
Thanks to the club and organisers for a top day.

First off, a big thanks to everyone who was involved in running the meeting. Only being to Bury twice before but it's a great track.
Dan, if you thought the A was scrappy, you should have seen the 'B'. I got totally wiped out on lap one as someone tried the usual over eager overtaking manouver ! I managed to get back up to I think 2nd from last only to get wiped out again. I don't think anyone was respecting the racing line at all, just fly in and hope. Still great days racing.
By the way, I was marshalling near the tripples, and that overtaking move was inspired !

I only made it along Sunday afternoon thanks to my best mate's birthday (and subsequent hangover). Still, the racing I did see was enjoyable if, as already mentioned, a little scrappy during the finals.
Hoping the NW regional weather next weekend is more like Sunday than Saturday!
Here's Dan landing 'that' move as he single-doubled the new jumps, overtaking a more cautious Rich Lowe in the process:
