:( I just don't see anything thats going to make it handle any better on a bumpy track than the current car. Bearing in mind there are no electrics in the car in the photo's there appears to be only a very, very short shock stroke. There are turnbuckles to adjust the camber which is nice but there does not appear to be much room for adjustment, still don't see any coloured springs either.
Looks cool but I'm still to be convinced.

Looking good, blue alloy always gonna be a winner! Be nice to see a pic with black and white wheels on it, checked the spec but can't see screws mentioned, are they Ti ones or nice silver steel/alloy ones?

So I run a BX round 1, X11 round 2, Aero round 3... just need a car for round 4 now! ha ha

Glad the wheels still come in white, black look cool on the bench but are hard to see round a track not that you can miss those orange ones!!

I like the rear of the car, looks like you can play with the anti squat which is a big step on for the car.

Must say does look very nice and even more bullet prof now!!:)

noticed the drive shafts are now crome, has anything else changed as i used to go through rear ones quite fast

DCM
08-05-2007, 09:08 PM
Has the chassis changed, on the sides, got an angled slope now, I don't remember it having that before.

Looks a far more robust car now.

Northy
08-05-2007, 09:10 PM
Can change squat and toe at rear I think (or in therory) and kick-up at front.

Driveshafts are a stronger material.

plus new material.

I must admit, in looks far more professional now, with the logo'd up plastics and anodizing, the steering has finaly lost that DIY look to it too.

Reevsey
08-05-2007, 09:29 PM
have the pins changed as they were the weak part that i used to go through where the plastic cap goes over the end. I asume the plastic ends are still there?

Looks faster the more i look at that car!!

Northy

Stronger pins were a running change last season. Plastic bits are still there to protect the ultra light ali diffs

the car looks fantastic. Well worth the wait to see it. Well to everyone involved. I can't afford to buy a full new car so will be upgrading the XRS with various parts as and when parts become advailable. It's a step forward on what i think is already one of the best cars around

Its a beautiful car. but having owned the X10 before, i'd still prefer the original polished metal sheen on the car. now... time to sell some "dust collectors" on my car shelf to raise funds for it :(

I think the Alloy Brace where the suspension pivots now fix looks alot stronger than when they screwed into the front gear box top plate.

Anyone else think it ironic now Ben Riley has stopped racing a pred, it's the only car that actually comes with orange wheels??? :D

checked the spec but can't see screws mentioned, are they Ti ones or nice silver steel/alloy ones?

Anyone know the answer re-screws, first thing I upgrade on a car are screws, can't stand the thought of cheap nasty ones rusting away, does this new X11 come with the nice shinny screws pictured?

pro4nut
09-05-2007, 12:59 PM
If the screws are the same as the x10 and they look it in the pictures. They are titanium, the dull grey look to them points at them being Ti.
Nice to see the changes to the gear box tops, but i only broke one since the x10 was released. The adjustability does it for me.

I like those logos on the wishbones as it's something I already did on my X10 - mine say Atomic Carbon tho! haha

Alfonzo

The screws will be decent, no worries. The X10 doesn't have one single nasty self tapping screw anywhere, the X11 will be the same. There won't be any issues with durability, the X10 is as strong as a tank - the X11 can only be stronger from what I see.

Nothing wrong with that Jimmy ;)

Btw does the X11 come with a one way ?

Alfonzo
09-05-2007, 05:59 PM
Pretty sure it does, but not on the prop shaft like the X10, I think it has one way bearings supporting the front diff in the front gearbox.

MattW
09-05-2007, 06:22 PM
It seems maybe not. The prop doesn't look to have one, and i'm sure it lists front one way as optional.

One way - Optional
An optional front one way unit has been tested by our Team Drivers, and is awesome.

the one-way should be optional as a guess, seen as tht is what the site says :D

I don't know how to put on those smily things onto posts properly, but that did make me laugh !
The reason it's pointless Graham is that my missus is expecting twins in September, so my racing days are numbered..... :-(

The saving grace is that we found out today, that they are both boys :-) so hopefully after this summers done, I might get to race again in 2014 !

Might as well wait for the Pred X18 I reckon... bugger.

With the weak dollar right now it'll cost a small fortune I fear. Shame, because it could do with some US exposure. Email xtreme rc and get the lowdown

Looks cool but I'm still to be convinced.

Someone technical needs to come on here and help the Pred out - as i've seen this sort of comment on a few sites now.

The suspension on the predator is soooo much more advanced then the other buggy's you'll see, it's fully progressive so what looks like a short stroke actually transforms into a completely different stroke through the wishbone. The design is very similar to the Pro-Link set-up they developed in Motorcross in the 80's where they had a tiny rear shock and a complicated swing arm that changed the way all motorcross bikes worked in that era.

I'm sure someone with a better technical understanding can explain it, but it's far more advanced then anyone seems to realise or give it credit for

MattW
10-05-2007, 07:54 PM
Nick is absolutely right, it is a suspension system that very few people properly understand - and i don't considder myself to be in that group. I think i have a fair idea - but not a full understanding by a long shot!!!

One thing that i did learn, is that the first thing you should do - is forget everything that you think you've learned from other cars over the years. In the 12 or so months i've had my pred, there are multiple ocasions that i've made a change and it's given totally the oposite effect that i was expecting.

I'm not running my X10 at the minute, although i do plan to go back to it during the year when i get more time.

big_boss
10-05-2007, 08:38 PM
Gramey Has an xrs (two if memory serves), so he should know about the suspension on the pred.... but it does take a bit of graft to get it to work on bumpy tracks (any car for that matter). It just takes a bit of getting used to driving it at "maximum attack" all of the time, once you get your head around that all is good.

I know i realy want one but damn!!!! I could get a BJ4WE for $475. I guess i could bitch about it, but then i compare what you lot(uk) are paying for rc stuff, holy sheep $hit!!! I used to live in the UK but i've forgoten what the cost of rc racing is out there. But out of all the other 4wd's out there i want this one more than any of them.

Also does anyone know who to contact to get them in to the local hobby shops? Seeing as i now i work in one, i know of a few "well off" people that race & would love this car.

jimmy

I think that something they are looking into

MK999
30-05-2007, 10:17 AM
A bellcrank system starts off on it's stroke as needing a larger amount of movement to move the shock a smaller amount, in the same way a lever does, and as such a smaller force can move the shock more easily, this is for the smaller bumps on a track, it absorbs them without influencing the chassis movement too much and keeps the wheels on the floor as much as possible, also acting as a 'softer' set up for grip. As it continues through the stroke the angles it works at now mean a larger movement at the wishbone means a larger movement at the damper, so if you land off a jump it doesn't just slap the chassis on the floor, also acting as a slightly harder setup for the faster corners to reduce roll and other undesired effects.

Progressive damping is something of a black art though from what I've read, on one track your car is the fastest thing out there, on another it's being lapped by the guy 1 place in front.

This also means you can get away with far less movement while retaining enough damping to survive the jumps and a soft enough setup for the smaller bumps for grip. However if you try and hit a fast bumpy corner with the progressive rate too hard at that point it ends in tears.
