airbrushing a spoiler

I'm airbrushing a protoform body spoiler
the protectionfilm is on the bottom backside of the spoiler
wich would mean painting it on the topside
how can I finish of the paint as a final protective layer ?

i use lots of fascolor white paint and faskoat now for the final layers on the inside of the shell body
will faskoat on top make the paint look dull ?

Take the film off spray the spoiler, then clean any overspray off the top with meths. You can also use the overspray film to cut designs into, i only got told that about a week ago! Thanks Jon!

yes ok, painting the backside is an option,
but will it not scratch the paint to easely when tumbling the car or by hits from other cars from the back ?
same question remains how to finish of the final layer on the backside ?

you could say my real question is wich side of the spoiler is mostly used by other peolpe ? inside/backside or outside/top ? and what is used as final layer to protect the paintjob but still keep the specular paint look intact ?

Paint the underside of the spoiler otherwise the paint will look matte and drab. It will also scratch when you roll the car, which you will do more often than being shunted in the back by other drivers.

Spoilers just don't last all that long in offroad. They're just one of those consumables...

spray on the under side buddy,take the film off or use the film to do your design but do not use water base paints if you do it with way as they will just flake off when you hit the wing agianst something . always clean the wing and then when you ve finished painting use halford clear laquer to protect the paint on the under side buddy , i ve done this for ages and never had a problem ,, you ll still get a few scuff s but the laquer will help protect it more ,, hope that helps mate ,,, as i ve said i ve done this for ages and i treat all my paint jobs with halfords laqour too

I just came up with a paint scheme wich allows me to mainly use the bottom side of the wing, the backside will be transparant/smoke
that way it might be more easely to spray some extra smoke paint on the backside when the cars gets hit.
by the way the paint job is for an onroad protoform mazda bodyshell (so the bottomside is somewhat "shielded" by the backside of the car)
my offroad rc10b44 car is orderd in the local rc shop and eagerly awaited

I never have that problem with Faskolor, Blitzy.... as long as the surface is clean and dry, and you warm each coat. But no matter what you put on it, it will get scuffed eventually.

+1 for the halfords clear laquer , I use it on the inside of every shell i paint . Just make sure you use a resperator with proper filters when spraying it . A dust mask will do nothing!

Also watch the ambiant temperature of where your spraying isnt too cold or it can set with a cloudy finish. I spray in the shed and have a wee electric heater in there to warm it up a bit :)
